Something many people may not know is that lab-grown (cultivated) meat has already received regulatory clearance in the U.S. for certain products, opening the door for it to enter the market. While it’s still not widely available, this is a major shift in the future of our food supply. (U.S. Food and Drug Administration)
Another fact that has caught many people’s attention is that Tyson Foods, one of the largest meat suppliers in the world and a supplier to major restaurant chains such as KFC, Taco Bell, and others, has invested in cultivated meat companies for years through its venture capital division. That doesn’t mean these restaurants are currently serving lab-grown meat, but it does show that some of the biggest names in the food industry are investing in this technology and watching where it’s headed. Whether you see this as innovation or something to question, it’s worth staying informed about what is happening in our food system. Read labels, do your own research, and make the choices that align with your values. Being informed has never been more important.
