TORONTO -- The Toronto Blue Jays needed to be in top form with unbeaten starter Max Scherzer on the mound for Detroit on Wednesday night. Larry Dierker Jersey . Instead they turned in a sloppy effort and the Tigers made them pay. Scherzer won his 13th straight decision and Alex Avila hit a three-run homer as Detroit defeated Toronto 6-2 at Rogers Centre. The Blue Jays made three errors on the night, leading to five unearned runs. "We definitely didnt help ourselves there," said Toronto manager John Gibbons. "And like Ive said before, against the better pitchers if you fall behind like that its an uphill battle." Scherzer (13-0) allowed seven hits, two earned runs and had eight strikeouts over 6 1-3 innings. He became the first starting pitcher to open the season by winning 13 straight decisions since Roger Clemens, who went 14-0 to start the 1986 season with the Boston Red Sox. Torontos Josh Johnson (1-3) turned in another inconsistent outing and also struggled in the field, making two errors in the third inning alone. The games key miscue was an error by second baseman Emilio Bonifacio that led to four unearned runs in the second inning. That was more than enough offence for Scherzer, who was hit hard a few times but maintained his steadiness throughout. Victor Martinez chipped in with a solo homer drove in two runs for Detroit (45-38). Toronto (41-43) fell two games below the .500 mark with its second straight loss and will need a win Thursday to salvage a split of the four-game series. Johnson, who returned to the lineup June 9 after missing seven weeks with right triceps inflammation, lasted five innings and allowed seven hits, one earned run, two walks and had five strikeouts. He has pitched five innings or less in five of his 10 starts this year. "Thats the frustrating thing is Im feeling good and I just want to go out there and throw some innings for this team and Im not really doing my job," Johnson said. The veteran right-hander gave up an infield single to Prince Fielder in the second inning. Martinez then hit a tailor-made double-play ball that went through Bonifacios legs and rolled into right field. Jhonny Peralta followed with a single that scored Fielder with the games first run. Johnson recorded the next two outs before Avila turned on a 3-2 pitch for his sixth homer of the year. The Blue Jays threatened in the bottom half but couldnt push a run across. Mark DeRosa hit a two-out triple and J.P. Arencibia followed with a blast to centre field that Austin Jackson snagged with a highlight-reel catch at the top of the wall. In the third, Johnson fumbled a dribbler near the front of the mound. That allowed Torii Hunter to reach base and he scored on a Martinez single to make it 5-0. Johnson later mishandled a chopper for his second error. The Tigers loaded the bases but Jose Bautista prevented any further damage with a nice running catch on an Omar Infante drive to right-centre field. Infante had to leave the game in the fourth inning with a left leg injury after a hard slide by Colby Rasmus on a potential double-play ball. Gibbons declined comment on the play and the Toronto centre-fielder wasnt immediately available to discuss it after the game. "Were really mad about that slide, thats a very dirty play in my book," Scherzer said. "When you watch it on replay, his spikes are up, hes sliding late. Rajai Davis is running there, hes going to be safe at first, were most likely not going to turn two there. "Theres no reason to slide in like that. I feel like he should be suspended." Martinez padded Detroits lead in the fifth when he smacked a 1-2 pitch over the wall in right field for his seventh homer of the season. Todd Redmond, who was called up earlier in the day from triple-A Buffalo, relieved Johnson and gave up a leadoff single to Jackson. With tension already high after the Rasmus slide, Redmond then hit Hunter just below the shoulder. The veteran right-fielder had a few choice words for the Toronto hurler and the benches and bullpens emptied. No punches were thrown and Hunter eventually walked down to first base. Hunter said his outburst was nothing against Redmond, he was just emotional because his teammate had been injured a few minutes earlier. "You take away somebody like that whos very important to our ball club, Im upset," Hunter said. "You take out a guy dirty like that, Im upset. The lateness of his slide, the spikes were high. "It was all wrong." Redmond got out of the jam when Miguel Cabrera lined out into a double play and Fielder struck out. The Blue Jays got on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning. Jose Reyes led off with a single and moved to second on a Bautista single. After an Adam Lind strikeout, Rasmus drove Reyes in with a single to right field. Rajai Davis struck out and Maicer Izturis drove in Bautista with a single to left. Scherzer was pulled after giving up a one-out single to Bonifacio in the seventh inning. Bruce Rondon came on in relief and got Reyes to pop up and Bautista to hit into a forceout. Redmond, who is expected to get a start on Sunday, allowed only one hit over three shutout innings. Toronto reliever Dustin McGowan struck out the side in the ninth. Joaquin Benoit picked up the final three outs for the Tigers. Notes: X-rays on Infantes leg were negative. Heavyweight Andy Ruiz Jr. has withdrawn from a world title elimination fight against fellow unbeaten rising contender Hughie Fury. The fight was supposed to take place Oct. 29 at Manchester Arena in Furys hometown of Manchester, England. The fight would have been the undercard of Furys cousin, heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury, meeting Wladimir Klitschko in a rematch.Promoter Frank Warren announced the fight earlier this month, doing so a few days before Ruiz was scheduled to face Franklin Lawrence. After Ruiz (29-0, 19 KOs) cruised to a lopsided decision victory -- 100-90, 99-91, 99-91 -- and came out of the fight with no injuries, both sides expected the deal to be finalized. On Friday, however, Ruiz elected not to sign for the fight he had previously agreed to, according to Top Rank, Ruizs promoter. He didnt want to sign the contract, and unfortunately they [Ruiz and his father, Andy Ruiz Sr.] decided not to go through with the fight, Top Rank vice president Carl Moretti told ESPN.com. If I agreed with them, wed both be wrong.Moretti said there was no injury preventing the bout. There are no physical restrictions preventing him from going through with the fight, Moretti said.It is not the first time that Ruiz, 27, a Mexxico native fighting out of Imperial, California, has pulled out a fight for reasons other than an injury. Robinson Chirinos Jersey. He was scheduled to fight Dan Batchelder on Jan. 16 in the main event of a UniMas-televised card in Dallas, but he pulled out because, according to Top Rank, he was not mentally ready to fight. Ruiz eventually returned on May 14 and knocked out former world title challenger Ray Austin in the fourth round.Ruiz also racked up a third-round knockout of Josh Gormley on July 16. He then defeated Lawrence in what was supposed to be a tuneup fight ahead of the title elimination bout against Fury. The winner of Ruiz-Fury would have earned a mandatory title shot at a world title. The fight would have been a step up in competition for Ruiz and the 21-year-old Fury (20-0, 10 KOs), who is coming off a seventh-round technical decision against experienced veteran Fred Kassi on April 30. Ruizs biggest wins came against former titlist Sergei Liakhovich and Austin, but both were far beyond their prime.Warren has not yet announced if Fury will remain on the Oct. 29 card and face another opponent. CHICAGO -- The Cleveland Indians hand the ball to their ace on Saturday night at Wrigley Field with a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven World Series. Tom Glavine Jersey .Devout creature of habit Corey Kluber, an 18-game winner this season, starts Game 4 with only three days off for the second time this postseason. A win would push the Chicago Cubs to the brink of elimination.I think theyre obviously going to make adjustments based on last game, Kluber said. Im going to make adjustments based on last game. And its just going to be that cat-and-mouse game.A 1-0 victory on Friday night gave Cleveland a 2-1 series lead. It was the fourth time in 13 games this postseason the Cubs were shut out.To be the best this time of year, youve got to beat the best, Cubs manager Joe Maddon said.Kluber had the Cubs lineup kowtowing in Game 1, leaving after 88 pitches in the top of the seventh inning with a shutout. Kluber had much more in the tank, but the Indians went into the series planning on getting three starts from their ace: Games 1, 4 and 7. Kluber won Tuesday at Progressive Field for his 21st victory of the season and third win in the playoffs, where his ERA is 0.74.Kluber has made himself, through hard work, one of the elite pitchers in the game, Indians manager Terry Francona said. Once he got here he didnt take his foot off the gas. I mean, this kids routines are impeccable. He works hard. Every time he picks up a ball, there is intent. Theres a reason its October 28 and his gas tank, the needles full.Klubers between-starts-routine and machine-like focus earned him the nicknamed Klubot in Cleveland. The Cubs are planning to reprogram their approach to Kluber in Game 4, a must considering the first three hitters in their lineup -- Dexter Fowler, Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo -- are a combined 1 for 22 against the right-hander. The rest of the lineup also has weak results in the matchup.Kluber was outstanding in Game 1, Maddon said. Then again, a second look at Los Angeles Dodgers ace left-hander Clayton Kershaw was a much different story than the first in the National League Championship Series. And Maddon is not convinced bringing a pitching back on short rest is an advantage. To throw a guy out there on less days rest, of course they can do well, Maddon said. But thats something that was done more prominently back with Jim Lonborg or Bob Gibson or the guys back in the day that would run them out there more readily. Its just not part of the baseball culture these days. However, I do like having the solid fourth guy. You would think it would be more difficult for guys coming back on short rest, but you have to play the game to find out.Should Kluber find trouble Saturday, the Indians can turn to their potent bullpen. Andrew Miller picked up the win Friday and like closer Cody Allen, threw less than 20 pitches in 1 1/3 innings of work in Game 3. Both could be available for multiple innings in Game 4.While Kluber is a relatively new look for most Cubs wholl dig in Saturday, Cubs veteran righty John Lackey has plenty of history, and thats just the way he likes it.Lackey makes his 23rd career postseason start Saturday night, and first since making two in 2013 with the Boston Red Sox. He also started two games and appeared in a third with the Angels in 2002.Its kind of been a crazy schedule for me, for sure. I feel like Im pitching every two weeks kind of deal, said Lackey, who allowed 10 earned runs in 26 1/3 career innings in the Fall Classic. I like scouting reports. I like having a little bit of history. Im a guy that studies film, studies reports, studies past history. So I think some of that information can help. But then again, you talk to hitters, most of the time they feel like a pitcher has an advantage over them the first time they see them. They get better as they see most guys. So it can work both ways. Youve still got to execute pitches.A teammate of Lackeys for the past two seasons -- first in St. Louis with the Cardinals and this season with the Cubs -- right fielder Jason Heyward, who signed an eight-year, $184 million contract with a $20 million signing bonus on Dec. 11, sat for the fourth consecutive postseason game Friday night.Heyward, a .157 career hitter in the playoffs, has two hits in 30 at-bats in these playoffs and team president Theo Epstein said Friday that any correction for Heyward would be offseason maintenance. But Maddon did not rule out starting him against Kluber.Im trying to do this one moment at a time, Maddon said. I do like Jason in the latter part of the game.Heyward is one of the best outfield defenders in baseball. And Maddon has another wild card to play late in games, pinch-hitter Kyle Schwarber. The Cubs could use him in the heat of the game given Schwarbers solid contact against him in Game 1. Schwarber, still not 100 percent from knee surgery, was not cleared to play in the field. He popped out as a pinch-hitter on Friday night. While Schwarber tattooed his first hit of the season Tuesday, a double to the gap in right, contact was suppressed by the Indians in the opener. The Cubs struck out 15 times.Four days later, Kluber hasnt lost his edge. Its doing the same stuff, just one less day, Kluber said. NEW YORK -- Just shy of a year. Thats how long Jeurys Familias saves streak lasted -- until Yadier Molina ended it with one perfectly timed swing.Molina and pinch hitter Kolten Wong each stroked an RBI double in the ninth inning, and the St. Louis Cardinals snapped Familias string of 52 straight saves in rallying to beat the New York Mets 5-4 on Wednesday night.A huge boost, Wong said. We needed this.Yoenis Cespedes hit a go-ahead homer off Adam Wainwright to cap a three-run comeback in the seventh that gave the Mets a 4-3 lead. But then Familia, who hadnt blown a regular-season save opportunity since July 30, 2015, finally faltered.Jedd Gyorko drew a four-pitch walk with one out in the ninth and was replaced by pinch runner Randal Grichuk. Molina hit the next pitch to deep center field, and Grichuk scored standing up to tie it.Molina was thrown out at third by Familia (2-2) on pinch hitter Jeremy Hazelbakers comebacker. But Hazelbaker stole second, then he scored when Wong lined a double just inside the left-field line. That was probably one of the top, top things Ive experienced in a while, said Wong, who lost his everyday job at second base this season and got demoted to the minors last month. To see some kind of light at the end of the tunnel was definitely something I needed and something that Ive been wanting for a long, long time.Familias franchise-record saves streak was the third longest in major league history, behind Tom Gordon (54) and Eric Gagne (84).They made good contact on my sinker, and I walked a guy and Molina came and jumped on the first pitch, and thats it, said Familia, who was charged with three blown saves in last years World Series loss to the?Kansas City Royals.Jonathan Broxton (3-2) tossed a scoreless eighth for the Cardinals, and Seung Hwan Oh got three quick outs for his sixth save.Including a split of Tuesdays doubleheader, St. Louis took two of three from the Mets in a matchup of National League wild-card contenders.Logan Verrett pitched seven efficient innings, and slumping Neil Walker went 3-for-3 with a base on balls for the third-place Mets, who dropped 5? games behind the NL East-leading?Washington Nationals. This is a really tough one to take, said Mets manager Terry Collins.Matt Holliday hit a two-run double off Verrett with two outs in the third, and Matt Adams followed with an RBI double that made it 3-1.Wainwright, who entered 3-0 in July with a major league-low 0.93 ERA, nursed that lead until the seventh after rrepeatedly pitching out of trouble. That was the longest such streak in the majors this season. It was almost heartbreaking. For a moment, it was. I was at my lowest of lows this season, Wainwright said. It was almost really bad, but the team saved me tonight.COMING ATTRACTION?Because of Tuesdays doubleheader, St. Louis needs a fill-in starter on Saturday night in Miami. But Cardinals manager Mike Matheny?would not say whether the team was leaning toward promoting RHP Alex Reyes to make his major league debut. The 21-year-old Reyes, one of baseballs premier prospects, was removed from his Triple-A outing after three innings on Tuesday -- perhaps to keep him available for Saturday. Left-handed reliever Tyler Lyons, who made 20 major league starts from 2013-15, also could be a candidate. No. Replica Air Max 270 . 13 Western Michigan and No. 20 Navy could put a bunch of bowls on hold, depending on what the College Football Playoff selection committee thinks of their performances this weekend. If Navy is in position to earn a spot in a major bowl game when the rankings and semifinal pairings are set Sunday, the 12-person committee will wait a week for Navy to play Army to make a final call on where the Midshipmen should be ranked.Navy (9-2) is 19th in the latest playoff rankings, two spots behind unbeaten Western Michigan heading into the Midshipmens matchup with Temple in the American Athletic Conference championship game Saturday. The Broncos (13-0) beat Ohio 29-23 in the Mid-American championship game Friday night in Detroit. The highest ranked team from the so-called Group of Five -- American, MAC, Mountain West, Conference USA and Sun Belt -- gets an automatic bid to a New Years Six bowl. This season that means the Cotton Bowl in Arlington, Texas, on Jan. 2.Selection committee chairman Kirby Hocutt said this week that the committee has had a conference call scheduled for Dec. 10 since the summer, just in case this issue came up.If Navy was to pass Western Michigan, it is all but certain the committee would wait to make sure the Midshipmen beat Army (6-5) before it set a Cotton Bowl matchup. If Navy remains behind WMU come Sunday, it will be up to the committee to determine if it needs to see the Army result. The committee is not limited by any specific number, distance behind or ahead. The committee only has to evaluate whether the Army game could affect Navys selection, said Bill Hancock, the executive director of the College Football Playoff. The problem with numerical metrics with something like this is two spots behind could be as close as four spots behind depending on how the committee views that cluster of teams together.Waiting a week to determine whether Western Michigan, Navy or some other team plays in the Cotton Bowl is an inconvenience for organizers of that game, but the bigger issue is the possible trickle-down effect to other bowls.Wright Waters, executive director of the Football Bowl Association, said Thursday that 10 to 14 bowls could be impacted by the delay in setting the Cotton Bowl matchup. The problem is not the number, its the number on that first weekend, Waters said. The first day of the bowl season is Dec. 17. There are six games, all involving Group of Five teams. Delaying setting those matchups until Dec. 11, when teams would have to be at a bowl site three days later, would create a logistical nightmare. The Navy issue is not the only one facing bowl organizers as they try to fill 80 spots for 40 games. Several conferences, including the Pac-12, Big 12 and Big Ten, do not have enough bowl-eligible teams to fill all their contracted spots. There will be at least a couple of 5-7 teams competing in bowl games this season. North Texas and Mississippi State are in line to get bowl bids with sub-.500 records because of their Academic Progress Rate scores, but they will have to wait until all the teams that qualified with six victories are accommodated. Army, an independent, is also in the mix, no matter how it does against Navy.Whats occurring this year is not necessarily different than what occurs every year at this time, MAC Commissioner Jon Steinbrecher said. You have different parties exploring different scenarios. If Navy does not end up in the Cotton Bowl, it is contracted to play in the Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth, Texas, on Dec. 23. If Navy goes to the Cotton, the American would not have enough bowl-eligible teams to fill all its spots, which is how the Cure Bowl in Orlando, Florida, on Dec. 17 could be affected by all this.Swapping out Western Michigan for Navy in the Armed Forces Bowl might be part of a solution. There is also a spot the Big Ten cannot fill in the Heart of Dallas Bowl on Dec. 27 that would be a good fit for Western Michigan if it falls out of the New Years Six.ESPN owns and operates 11 bowls, all of which involve Group of Five schools, and it will be involved in putting the postseason puzzle together, too. There are a few twists that could be a little more complex, American Athletic Conference Commissioner Mike Aresco said, but for the most part its not going to involve the whole system.---Follow Ralph D. Opener Shubham Khajuria, who resumed on 48, only added four runs to his score before falling in the eighth over of the morning. He had put on 89 for the second wicket with Pranav. The wickets fell steadily thereafter, with only a sixth-wicket partnership of 65 between Pranav and wicketkeeper Puneet Bisht resisting Haryana for any length of time. With 19 overs left at the end of the day, J&K went to stumps 38 for no loss in their second innings.A century from Shamsher Yadav and a 90 from Nakul Verma helped Services defy Hyderabad at the Bandra-Kurla Complex, as they ended day three with reasonable hope of taking one point from a run-heavy game. Coming together at 116 for 3, after Services lost three wickets for the addition of only 39 to their overnight score, Shamsher and Nakul put on 84 before the latter fell for 90 off 178 balls (13x4). Even as wickets fell steadily around him, Shamsher remained at the crease through most of the rest of the day, before he was ninth out two overs from stumps for 104 (196b, 13x4, 1x6). We look at the leading contenders to replace Remi Garde at Aston Villa, according to Sky Bets odds. Eric Wynalda Jersey . The Frenchman left Villa Park on Tuesday evening with the Premier Leagues bottom club facing a huge task to avoid relegation.Barring the most remarkable of escapes, with 12 points between themselves and safety, Villa must now start planning for life in the Sky Bet Championship. Heres a look at who Sky Bet rate as the leading candidates to take over…David Moyes (Sky Bets 2/1 favourite) David Moyes struggled at Real Sociedad When David Moyes left Everton almost three years ago his sights were set on the very top, with the ominous task of replacing Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United ahead of him. However, difficult spells at Old Trafford and then Real Sociedad see him now considered favourite to take charge of the Premier Leagues bottom club. In Villa, Moyes would have the chance to rebuild one of the countys biggest underachievers along with his own career.Nigel Pearson (9/4 with Sky Bet) Nigel Pearson divided opinions during his time at Leicester If Pearson is interested in a Mission Impossible: II then the script is written. The 52-year-old inspired Leicester to a remarkable surge to safety last season, after being bottom of the table and seven points off survival with eight games to go. Aston Villa face an even bigger challenge. However, Pearson could also be the man to help Villa to an immediate return to the top flight, should they be relegated - he led Leicester to the Championship title in 2013/14. Mick McCarthy (6/1 with Sky Bet) Mick McCarthy is the best-backed contender according to Sky Bet Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy has been the best-backed contender in Sky Bets next Aston Villa manager market, with his odds halving from 12/1 to 6/1 since Gardes announcement. The Yorkshiremans six-year stint at Midlands rivals Wolves would be unlikely to endear him to the Villa Park faithful and he currently has the chance to secure another run at promotion with Ipswich, who are just four points outside the play-offs. But former Villa man Paul Merson has already endorsed McCarthy, suggesting he would be the man to rebuild the club if they face relegation. He told Sky Sports last week: Mick McCarthy is as good as anybody in that league. He will get that club settled, get the right players in.Steve Bruce (7/1 with Sky Bet) Steve Bruce is aiming to take Hull back to the Premier League Like McCarthy, Bruce has a promotion battle on his hands with Hull sat fourth in the Championship. The Tigers are aiming for an immediate return to the Premier League after suffering relegation in 2014/15. Bruces spell as manager of Birmingham could also make a potential appointment unpopular with the Villa supporters.Steve McClaren (11/1 with Sky Bet) Steve McClaren was sacked by Newcastle on March 11 Former England boss Steve McClaren is once again available after being sacked by Newcastle in March. The 54-year-old failed to lead Derby to promotion from the Championship last season, and, after struggling with Newcastle in the Premier League this term, would have plenty to prove should he be appointed. Other optionsGarry Monk is out of work and certainly did not disgrace himself at Swansea, while he boasts promotion experience, albeit as a player, back in 2010/11. Sean Dyche is also 12/1 but is currently in charge of high-flying Burnley, who sit top of the Championship without a defeat since December. Assistant manager and interim boss Eric Black is the same price as he prepares the team for the visit of Chelsea on Saturday. Black would presumably be a cheaper option than some names on the list but the Villa board made clear in their statement that he would be taking charge until the club appoints a new manager. Of the longer-priced options, Ryan Giggs (14/1), Steve Clarke (20/1) and Brendan Rodgers (33/1) are considered in the mix. Aston Villa boss betting Who will get the job? SEATTLE -- Canadian welterweight Rory (Ares) MacDonald waged a technical fight in winning a unanimous if unappreciated decision over Jake (The Juggernaut) Ellenberger in the co-main event of a televised UFC card Saturday. Ellenberger could not find a way to close the distance and the taller MacDonald punched away from the outside. It was effective if not entertaining and the crowd of 7,816 at KeyArena booed loudly for much of the fight. The bout may go down as one of the worst received UFC co-main events, judging from the fan response throughout. The 30-27, 29-28, 30-27 decision was greeted by even more boos. "That fight sucked so bad," said UFC president Dana White, who was frustrated earlier in the card by inconsistent judging. One could argue it was smart strategy by MacDonald. It forced Ellenberger into facing the risk/reward of closing the gap. And MacDonald is trained by Firas Zahabi, a master of the jab. Champion Georges St-Pierre, who also works under Zahabi in the same Montreal gym as MacDonald, was likely nodding in appreciation from his viewing position. St-Pierre -- who takes on No 1 contender Johny Hendricks in November -- and MacDonald have said they wont fight each other but the day of reckoning is approaching. Carlos (Natural Born Killer) Condit and Martin (The Hitman) Kampman meet next month in another welterweight fight with title contender implications. "I think I did exactly what I was supposed to do. I kept up my end," MacDonald said. "Hes a counter-puncher, and a very powerful puncher. I was waiting for my opportunities and he wasnt coming in at the right times." In Saturdays main event, flyweight champion Demetrious (Mighty Mouse) Johnson put on a show in submitting challenger John Moraga via armbar at 3:43 of the fifth round. The champ transitioned slickly from kimura to armbar in forcing Moraga to tap with his arm bent at an ugly angle. The move earned Johnson US$50,000 for submission of the night. It was a dominant display, with Johnsons superior grappling and speed winning the day. It was also the latest stoppage in the history of the UFC. In the aftermath of MacDonald-Ellenberger, White said he hoped the 125-pound title bout would "slap the bad taste out of everyones mouth." The little men did their best with the five-foot-three Johnson, who makes his home in nearby Parkland, taking the upper hand with his takedowns of the five-foot-six Moraga. The challenger, a relative unknown in the fledgling division, showed his teeth with a triangle attempt in the second round but Johnson (18-2-1) outmanoeuvred him and Moraga (13-2) went back to his stool frustrated. Off another takedown, Johnson almost locked in a kimura in the third round. It was more of the same in the fourth and fifth with Johnson controlling the fight -- and Moraga. MacDonald, a native of Kelowna, B.C., who fights out of Montreal, came into his bout ranked No. 3 in the 170-pound ranks while Ellenberger, a former U.S. marine who had done a lot of trash-talking at MacDonalds expense, was No. 4. The two fighters did shake hands after the decision, which stretched MacDonalds win streak to five. Ellenberger (29-7) was clearly feeling confident going into the evening, tweeting a picture of himself in the Hugo Boss suit he planned to wear at the post-fight news conference. Ellenberger came out first to "Bleed it out" by Linkin Park. MacDonald followed to Rihanna and a mixture of boos and cheers. The Canadian looked like he couldnt wait to fight, staring at Ellenberger as he entered the cage. Ellenberger had trouble closing the distance in the first round and MacDonalds stinging jab didnt help. The crowd didnt like the round but MacDonald (15-1) probably did. There were more boos in the second as MacDonald waited for Ellenberger to try to come in. Ellenbergers face began to show damage. MacDonald used kicks and jabs to keep Ellenberger away. But he couldnt stop everything and was bleeding from the face in the third round. Ellenberger also managed a late takedown, winning cheers for his effort. "It just wasnt my night," said Ellenberger. "I didnt have a good night. I didnt pull the trigger." "Im very disappointed in myself," he added. White thought both co-main event fighters failed to impress -- Ellenberger because he froze and MacDonald because he didnt press his advantage. "I dont think he did anything," White said of MacDonald. "He threw a few jabs and some front kicks. Thats all he did. "I dont think he moved down the (rankings) ladder but do you think anyones screaming to see him in a fight again?" Bantamweight Liz (Girlrilla) Carmouche battered pint-sized Brazilian Jessica Andrade en route to a second-round TKO in the first UFC matchup of two openly lesbian fighters. Wholesale USA Soccer Jerseys. Carmouche (8-3) survived a first-round guillotine choke attempt from the five-foot-two Andrade (9-3). But it was all Carmouche in the second as she alternated between mounting the Brazilian and taking her back, slamming down one ground strike after another until referee Herb Dean stepped in at 3:57. The biggest cheer during the bout, however, came when womens champion (Rowdy) Ronda Rousey was shown on the big screens. Earlier, middleweight Ed (Short Fuse) Herman won a split decision over former Strikeforce fighter Trevor (Hot Sauce) Smith in a wild, memorable, free-swinging bout that earned both men a $50,000 bonus for fight of the night. "Wow... Hell of a fight. Those guys took a few quality years off their lives," tweeted Condit, ranked No. 2 among welterweights. Both men were wobbled in a hard-hitting first round and Smith was cut around the eye. Smith (10-4) kept swinging and Herman (21-7 with one no contest) never blinked, even when he took a kick to the groin late in the fight. It really was Sleepless in Seattle as both men refused to go down. "What a SICK fight much respect to Herman and Smith!!!!!! Tough one to judge," tweeted White. He was proved right when the judges scored it 30-27, 27-30, 29-28 for Herman. White later tweeted that Smith fought with a broken hand. "I thought I won, but it was a close fight, so Ill give him the credit," said Smith, who fights out of Tukwila, Wash. There were some odd scorecards on the day, with another undercard bout seeing two judges awarding all three rounds to different fighters as Daron (Detroit Superstar) Cruickshank won a split (30-27, 27-30, 30-27) decision over veteran Yves Edwards. "That was a garbage dec! I hate the way this sport is judged," tweeted lightweight Jamie Varner. Veteran welterweight (Ruthless) Robbie Lawler floored Bobby (Vicious) Voelker and then stopped him with a right to the head as referee Dan Miragliotta rushed to end the carnage 24 seconds into the second round. It was all Lawler (21-9 with one no contest), who is 2-0 and has impressed since returning to the UFC. Voelker (24-10), who took the fight on two weeks notice, was game but outgunned. Lightweight Melvin (The Young Assassin) Guillard, who had lost four of his last five fights, dominated Mac Danzig en route to a nasty knockout at 2:47 of the second round. He won $50,000 for knockout of the night. Guillard (48-13-3 with one no contest) floored Danzig (22-11-1) with a punch to the head and then put him away with a flurry on the ground before referee Steve Newport finally stepped in. "The judges rules the Melvin Guillard vs Mac Danzig fight a split dec," White tweeted sarcastically after the stoppage. "Yes that was a joke," he added. "Judging is so bad in MMA people actually thought I was serious and that could happen," he continued on Twitter. Danzig, who has now lost four of his last six UFC fights and seven of his last 10, had trouble regaining his equilibrium and fell over when he finally tried to get off the canvas. But he walked out of the cage under his own steam. Lightweight Jorge (Gamebred) Masvidal submitted local favourite Michael (Maverick) Chiesa (9-1) via DArce choke with just one second remaining in the second round of a hard-fought bout that featured some big punches and plenty of technical grappling. There has been some bad blood before the fight with Masvidal (25-7) objecting to Chiesas win over a teammate last time out, not to mention his bushy beard. Lightweight Danny (Last Call) Castillo (16-5) won a unanimous 29-28 decision over Tim (The Dirty Bird) Means (18-5-1). Dutch bantamweight Germaine (The Iron Lady) de Randamie (4-2) earned a split (30-27, 28-29, 29-28) decision over Julie (Fireball) Kedzie (16-12) in a battle of UFC newcomers. "Have no clue how a judge could call that a split dec!!!" tweeted White. "MMA judges scare me. Randamie won easily 2-1 in a not very exciting fight." Lightweight Justin (J-Bomb) Salas (11-4) won a split (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) decision over veteran Aaron Riley (29-14-1) in a fight that left both mens faces busted up. Bantamweight Yaotzin Meza (19-8) defeated John (Prince) Albert (7-5) by second-round rear-naked choke. NOTES -- Herman, Riley, Danzig and Andrade all went to the hospital but were brought back and reported to be fine. ' ' '

The NFL is loaded with high-powered talent on the offensive side of the ball, but which units scare opposing defensive coordinators the most when they set the game plan? And which players, outside of the quarterback position, do you have to stop in order to slow these offenses down?Today, lets dig deep into the five scariest offenses in the league. Yeezy 350 V2 GID Glow Pas Cher . From the Cowboys physicality up front to the Falcons big-play passing attack, here are the five NFL offenses that give defenses consistent problems on game day.Atlanta FalconsPoints per game rank:?1st |?Yards per play rank:?1stWho you have to stop: WR Julio JonesJones is the most complete wide receiver in the game, a rare combination of speed, size and route-running ability at all three levels of the field. This season, Jones has produced 1,253 yards receiving (despite missing the past two games) and is averaging a ridiculous 17.4 yards per catch, but its the tape that would scare me more than the raw numbers as an opposing defensive coordinator because of his ability to take over games with Matt Ryan throwing him the ball. The deep ball? Yeah. Jones can press the top of any secondary in the league with the ball skills to make top-level grabs down the field. But given his formation flexibility, I would worry more about his production after the catch on simple crossing routes from a slot alignment and his ability to eat up a defensive backs cushion before snapping off a route to advance the sticks. Outside of the numbers, in the slot, out of a bunch or stack formation. It doesnt matter. You have to account for Jones regardless of his alignment because he can light up your defense from any spot on the field. Yeezy 350 V2 Blanche Pas Cher . As thrilling as it is, as much as its obsessed over, basketball just might be a means to an end that covers your toes.In a given year, Michael Jordan makes more in sneaker sales than what he garnered in NBA checks over the totality of his career. His is a unique case, as MJ is the pinnacle, but hes also the model, the industry prototype. To be a signature guy is to walk in Jordans shoes, to play at selling your fashion to the masses at a level that makes your celebrity endure.Jordans greatest moments might be indelible to those who lived through the 1980s and 90s, but its his shoes that walk a legacy beyond the normal bounds of time. Kids who never saw him play -- or even watched a YouTube highlight -- will wear Jordan 1s, a sneaker that came out in 1985. The staying power of the original Jordan 1 is especially impressive considering how the 1980s were considered something of an aesthetic wasteland. Todays NBA stars are shooting for that future. They wont get there, as there was a certain serendipity to Jordans invention of signature sports branding, but theyll try. The biggest sports stars are competitive enough to shoot for a legacy thats bigger than sports.LeBron James agreed to a lifetime contract with Nike, while his Cleveland Cavaliers had to hope he would continue to re-up on single-year deals. Stephen Currys Under Armour contract runs through 2024; the Golden State Warriors hope he takes the path of least resistance and re-signs with them in July. The primary employer might be the symbol on the sneaker, not the name across the front of the jersey. Some people dont get it. Shoes are silly, trivial. Fashion might be something athletes do in their spare time to impress each other, but why should a fan care what his favorite player wears? The simplest answer might be that sneakers are cool, and theyre all the cooler for being inanimate Zeligs to the biggest basketball moments. Its fashion with a cameo in scenes like MJs Game 6 shot in Utah, LeBrons Game 7 block on Andre Iguodala, Stephon Marbury in Chinas -- OK, that one is a stretch. Eventually, these shoes become little time machines, nostalgia you can sink your feet into. If youre familiar with the Jordan XIIs, its hard not to look at them and think of anything other than Flu Game. Moreover, some of these sneakers are as close as you can get to objectively great style. Sure, theres a brainwashing aspect, the crazy lie that a super athletes imprimatur actually makes a shoe better. Sure, theres something arbitrary about how many people would yearn after a shoe with a swoosh symbol and scoff at that same exact model were it burnished with a dot, squiggle or myriad of other shapes. But its not all bull. Some of these sneakers are beautiful, and even if well never get everyone to agree on which ones are, everyone can find their own version of greatness. ' ' '

"Have no clue how a judge could call that a split dec!!!" tweeted White. "MMA judges scare me. Randamie won easily 2-1 in a not very exciting fight." CALGARY -- The Calgary Stampeders quarterback carousel has turned again, stopping on backup Kevin Glenn as the starter for Fridays game against the undefeated Saskatchewan Roughriders. Willie ORee Jersey . The Stampeders (4-1) emerged from their bye week with the expectation Drew Tate had overcome a strained right forearm that sidelined him for two games. But Tates arm flared up again after practice earlier this week. Glenn will start against the Riders (5-0) with Bo Levi Mitchell his backup at McMahon Stadium. Tate left in the fourth quarter of a 36-21 road loss to Saskatchewan on July 6. He was subsequently diagnosed with a strained forearm muscle and hasnt played since although his latest setback has been called an elbow injury. "Hell probably be not throwing for five, six, seven days," Calgary head coach/GM John Hufnagel said Wednesday. "It depends on how it responds to injections." Tates string of injuries extends back to the second game of last season when he separated his shoulder. He returned later in the year but broke a bone in his arm in a playoff game. The 28-year-old Texan hasnt been able to get a sustained run of starts since Hufnagel declared him the starter prior to last season. Glenn, 34, did admirable work to get Calgary to last seasons Grey Cup game. But the emergence of Mitchell this year has further crowded the quarterback situation. Mitchell finished a come-from-behind win against Montreal on July 20 when Glenn suffered a right elbow injury. Mitchell, 23, of Katy, Texas, then went the distance in a 37-24 victory over Winnipeg on July 27. He threw for 376 yards and three TDs and was named the CFLs offensive player of the week. "You always expect to go out and play great," Mitchell said. "Thats always the mindset. "Sometimes that doesnt happen. Fortunately for me last time it did. Obviously its going to help your confidence." Glenn admits Calgary has a unique quarterback situation. "The biggest thing about the situation is all three guys have played," he acknowledged. "You dont usually get a situation where that has happened. "Its usually the first-string guy goes down, the second-string guy plays and then it gives the No. 1 guy time to recover and he comes back to his starting spot. "That No. 3 guy, Ive been in that situation before where you really had to, I dont want to say pray because youre praying for somebody else to get hurt, but you really had to go through some stuff to actually get onto the field." Glenn had four touchdown passes in a 41-38 win and another two in a 17-10 victory against Saskatchewan last season. Glenn said his arm is healthy and hes looking forward to facing the CFLs only unbeaten team. "Its a team that beat us last time out and its the only loss we have this year, so theres a lot of added incentive," he said. "Ive got some good relationships with guys on that team, so it would be good to have bragging rights. "This is a team that nobody has been able to beat so far and theyre coming into our house and we have a very good opportunity to beat them. All that plays a part in the preparation and taking advantage of the opportunity." Despite having had three different starters, Calgarys offence is averaging a solid 32.4 points per game, second only to Saskatchewan (36.6). The unit is also third in TDs with 16, behind the Riders (19) and Toronto Argonauts (18). "Weve managed to win football games," Hufnagel said. "The quarterbacks have taken care of the football, weve been able to get first downs. "Theyve done a good job managing the game . . . and the receivers and the offensive line are tuned into the quarterback thats on the field. He has given the offense and quarterback Matthew Stafford a legitimate downfield threat. Jones, in his first season with Detroit, has racked up 18 catches for 408 yards, averaging 22.7 yards per catch. Of Jones 18 catches, fully half of them have gone for more than 20 yards, and six have netted Detroit 30-plus yards.Im comfortable within the system, Jones said. I think with all of us, it was kind of automatic. We all grew in the system and early on, learned the system with each other.Jones was listed as limited in practice Thursday with a hamstring issue, but hes been healthy enough so far to lead the NFL with 136.0 receiving yards per game. No one else in the league has more than 325 receiving yards so far this season. Were throwing the ball underneath a lot, but can you get it down the field? offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter said. Marvin is able to make some plays down the field, and thats good for our offense. If youre an opposing defense looking at our offense, you know you have to be aware of all threats. Marvin went out and made some really big plays, Stafford made some nice throws, O line gave some nice protection. Its a positive development. In four seasons with the Bengals, Jones never aveeraged more than 14 yards per catch. Leo Boivin Jersey. His 73-yard score against the Packers last week was the longest catch of his career by 24 yards. Before this season, Jones had tallied just two games with more than 100 yards receiving. Hes already done that twice for the Lions, including a career-high 205 in Green Bay. Hes just the fifth Lion to ever surpass the 200-yard plateau.I feel like quite a few of (his catches) have, kind of, been toe-tapping right on the sideline, Stafford said. His body control is really good, obviously has good speed . and hes doing a good job of attacking the ball when its in the air. Were not going to throw a deep ball every play, but if theres opportunities for guys to go succeed at what theyre really good at, Im going to try and give them that opportunity.Game notes Lions cornerback Nevin Lawson was flagged for pass interference at the start of the second quarter against the Packers, resulting in a 66-yard penalty. Lawson said one of his coaches told him the league admitted the call was a mistake. He said he believes pass-interference calls should be reviewable and added: These refs have to be held accountable in some type of way. They should definitely have to get some type of consequences for making the wrong call, especially crucial calls that can decide wins or losses.---Online: AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP-NFL ' ' '
NuckleDu was the first player from the United States to take down a Premier Event this year, establishing himself as a legitimate international threat and shaking up the standings for the Capcom Cup with his automatic qualification. Cheap Avalanche Jerseys . The Canada Cup was the last Premier Event on the Capcom Pro Tour that rewarded points and half of the top eight were players that needed the automatic berth into the Capcom Cup.Those four players, Red Bulls Masato Bonchan Takahashi, r/Kappa sponsored Takeuchi John Takeuchi Ryota, OpenRecs Shinya Nuki Onuki, and Ronins Alex Myers, came close but will need either a spot into a regional qualifier or good fortune to play in Anaheim for the finals. But, as a result of NuckleDus victory, several USA players did qualify for the Capcom Cup -- names such as Chris Tatarian and Mikey XsK_Samurai Chea. The Canada Cup was an exciting tournament for character variety. The top eight almost had an appearance from rarely-played Birdie or Juri, but did have a Guile and Rashid. In addition, there was a Chun-Li, Nash, Necalli, Ryu and two Cammies. Although the list of characters contained only one real duplicate, the usual suspects (Ryu, Chun-Li, Cammy, and Necalli) once again showed up.The frontrunners of Western prowessIn addition to NuckleDu, BX3 TP-Links Arman Phenom Hanjani of Norway was a star yet again on the big stage. Phenom once again proved that hes arguably on the same level as the vaunted Asian region with another dominating tournament showing. His highlight, a 3-0 drubbing of Red Bull and Twitchs Daigo The Beast Umehara was the perfect example of his growth as a player. Phenom lacked the superior ground game control of Umehara, but made up for it for his bold and fearless refusal to be conditioned. He understood that his v-trigger was the best comeback mechanic for Necalli and was shameless in his use of v-skill. In one round, he command grabbed the Japanese Ryu four times until he was dizzy. But most importantly, he refused to be bullied on wake-up, when he lost the initiative, and when he was losing. On the other side, NuckleDu was spectacular throughout the tournament. His character choices allowed him to float between passivity and ground control with Guile and harder reads and momentum shifts with Rainbow Mika. NuckleDu was superb in ground control, anti-airs, and defensive play and crushed everyone in his path. The way to beat the strongest regions in the world was through the play of both NuckleDu and Phenom -- fearlessness, stubborn tenacity, and strong defense. The Canada Cup grand finals: NuckleDu vs. Xiao HaiNuckleDu not only beat Xiao Hai in the winners finals, but he also beat him in the grand finals to prevent a bracket reset. His switch to a stronger offensive character in Rainbow Mika not only smothered Xiao Hais defensive options, but restricted his movements in the neutral game; even Xiao Hais amazing reactions were kept in check due to NuckleDus unorthodox dropkick timings. NuckleDu was clever in his throw/meaty setups and confused Xiao Hai in several scramble situations. He not only quelled the momentum of the hottest player on the planet, but he beat him twice. The USA star provided a glimpse of hope that regions outside of Asia are truly threats to compete in any tournament regardless of how stacked. TORONTO -- Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp is expected to miss the three-game series against the Blue Jays after spraining his left ankle. Out of the lineup for 11 games with a sore left shoulder, Kemp came off the 15-day disabled list before Sundays 9-2 win over the Washington Nationals. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, but limped off the field after sliding into home plate on a force play in the ninth inning. After the Dodgers beat Toronto 14-5 without Kemp on Monday night, manager Don Mattingly said X-rays were negative. "Well see how it looks tomorrow, if its any better," Mattingly said. "Well wait and see." Kemp was walking around the Dodgers clubhouse with a boot on his ankle following the game. Earlier Monday, Mattingly was less optimistic that Kemp would avoid a return to the DL. "Im probably not feeling as good about it as I did yesterday," Mattingly said. "It could go the wrong direction. Either this things going to get (better) and well know pretty quickly or its going to be a little more severe." Mattingly said Kemp came to the stadium at noon Monday and spent the afternoon undergoing treatment. He was expected to do the same Tuesday. Mattingly saw no need to speak to Kemp about not running hard. "Theres no reason," he said. "Once that happens to a guy, they understand right away." Sundays game marked the first time that Kemp, Hanley Ramirez and Crawford had appeared together in the starting lineup this season. Rookie Yasiel Puig started in centre against Toronto on Monday, with Andre Ethier at DH. Mattingly said Ethier would likely return to centre Tuesday and Wednesday. "Luckily were in the American League (ballpark) where its not quite the same, you dont need all the extra players," Mattingly said. "We feel like we can kind of get by. Anytime you play without him youre going to play short, but with the DH you dont worry about it quite as much." The Dodgers begin a four-game series against Cincinnati in Los Angeles on Thursday. They can take confidence from their performance against Australia last Saturday, when they came within a missed drop goal of a much-needed win. But the All Blacks represent a step up in class from the Wallabies, and were at their ruthless best to beat Ireland in Dublin. France had clung on to a degree in Cardiff until Louis Picamoles was sent to the bin, and their No. 8 will be an important presence again in Paris. Kieran Read has led New Zealand to victory in all-but one of their Tests in 2016, but the captains own performance has come under scrutiny. If Picamoles can get the better of their battle at the Stade de France then France may have a chance. Ireland had some success at the breakdown in both Chicago and Dublin, but even so were unable to turn territory into points last weekend.Picamoles will need to lead by example here, and hope that his back-row colleagues can provide the kind of energy that Sean OBrien displayed at the Aviva Stadium. With Jerome Kaino back for the All Blacks, though, and Read showing signs that he is back to somewhere near his best in Ireland, it may still not be enough.WeatherFollowing the freezing welcome they received in Dublin, the All Blacks can expect more clement condition in the French capital. Paris is predicted to be cloudy, but dry and with a temperature of around nine degrees at kick off.?PredictionThe All Blacks will arrive in Paris with their confidence well and truly restored.
