ARLINGTON, Texas -- Jason Castro already had a reason to celebrate after finding out he was headed to his first All-Star game. Taven Bryan Jersey. The Houston Astros catcher added to the fun with the big hit in a win over Yu Darvish and the Texas Rangers. Castro hit a tiebreaking three-run homer a few hours after becoming the first American League All-Star for the Astros, and Houston went on to beat the Rangers 9-5 on Saturday night. The catchers drive just to the right of the lawn in centre field came off Robbie Ross in the seventh inning but made a loser of Darvish (8-4), who had a rough night after earning his second All-Star nod in two years in the majors. "I grew up watching the All-Star game," Castro said. "One of the goals, along with winning the World Series, is playing in the All-Star game. Its still kind of surreal. It might not sink in until I get to New York." The Astros built a 4-0 lead on a two-run homer by Brandon Barnes in the fourth and a two-run single from fellow rookie Marc Krauss an inning later. "Looking at todays performance, I didnt perform like an All-Star," Darvish said. "Its unbelievable that I was being selected." Geovany Soto pulled the Rangers even in the sixth, following Mitch Morelands sacrifice fly, with a three-run homer off Wesley Wright. Travis Blackley (1-0) got the win with 1 1-3 innings of scoreless relief. Darvish came out after walking Jose Altuve to start the seventh, and Brett Wallace was hit by a pitch from Ross. Castro, who had two hits and scored twice, followed with his 12th homer. Wallace reached base all five times, adding two doubles and two walks. "There was a feeling on the bench that we had put together some pretty good at-bats and that we could break through," said Castro, who also twice threw out Ian Kinsler trying to steal. "Darvish is a great pitcher. Hes one of the best in baseball for a reason. We were trying to simplify and narrow down what we do at the plate." Darvish, the major league strikeout leader, had six in six innings, but gave up six hits and a season-high five earned runs. The Japanese right-hander, who came within an out of a perfect game in the second game of the season against the Astros, tied his season high with four walks. He has just one win in his past nine outings. "Those guys are professionals and they could catch some pitches. Tonight they caught some," Rangers manager Ron Washington said. "They swung the bats well." Houston lefty Dallas Keuchel took a shutout into the sixth but didnt get another out. He was replaced by right-hander Paul Clemens after singles by Elvis Andrus and Nelson Cruz, who was named an All-Star reserve. Cruz had three hits, including his 22nd homer. Clemens got Adrian Beltre on a popout but walked Lance Berkman to load the bases. After Moreland ended the shutout, Soto hit his tying shot into the Houston bullpen in left-centre field. Krauss was 1-for-15 in his career before getting three straight singles. The first two -- including his first run-scoring hit on a bases-loaded single -- were off Darvish. "I thought Krauss had tremendous at-bats," Astros manager Bo Porter said. "He really grinded it." Jake Elmore had his first career homer for Houston, a two-run shot in the eighth. Ross has given up three homers in his past five appearances after yielding three in 58 games last year. "Just a little rut in the road I guess," Ross said. "Hopefully I can overcome it and work my way back." Rangers prospect Jurickson Profar made his first pro start in left field as Washington tries to figure out ways to get him in the lineup. Profar had a diving catch, while fighting the sun, to save a run and end the second inning. NOTES: Rangers RHP Joakim Soria could be activated Sunday. He is coming back from elbow reconstruction surgery and hasnt pitched in the majors since Sept. 11, 2011, with Kansas City. ... Rangers RHP Alexi Ogando gave up four hits and three runs in two innings in a rehab assignment with Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday night. He will make another start for Round Rock on Thursday. ... WACO, Texas -- Former Baylor standout Isaiah Austin has been cleared to play basketball again, 2 1/2 years after he was diagnosed with Marfan syndrome during a physical before the NBA draft. Kingsley Coman Jersey.Austin revealed on his Instagram account this week that his doctor has given him the go-ahead to again pursue his dream of playing professional basketball. The 7-foot-1 player said he has been getting constant checkups, including heart monitoring, since the diagnosis before the 2014 draft when he was a potential first-round draft pick.Marfan syndrome is a genetic disorder that affects the bodys connective tissue. It can affect many different parts of the body, including the aorta, the blood vessel that carries blood from the heart to the rest of the body. The 23-year-old Austin, who has relied on his strong Christian faith, said he is moving forward with pure joy to chase his dream and share his testimony.Austin had succeeded at Baylor in the Big 12 Conference with a prosthetic right eye only to find out days before the draft that he had the rare disorder that could affect his heart. NBA scouts had already been aware that he was blind in his right eye from a previous injury aggravated doing a dunk in middle school. Multiple operations couldnt fix the detached retina and save his vision. After his Marfan syndrome diagnosis, Austin still got to hear his name called at the NBA draft. He was made a ceremonial pick midway through the first round and presented an NBA cap by Commissioner Adam Silver.Since then, Austin has worked to raise awareness of Marfan syndrome through his foundation . PITTSBURGH -- Antonio Brown has no fear, no doubts, no worries about playing the Cincinnati Bengals, the team that knocked him out of an AFC wild-card matchup with a concussion. Aaron Rodgers Packers Jersey. The star Pittsburgh Steelers receiver does know at least six ways the Bengals defense will try to cover him Sunday in the first game this season between the AFC North rivals.I expect them to roll out the blankets. I expect them to bring deodorant, Brown said from his locker Friday. I expect them to have pillows. I expect them to have an Uber. I expect them to follow me on Twitter. I expect them to watch my Snapchat. I expect them to do whatever it takes -- try to do whatever it takes to win the game.Brown, who incurred two fines worth almost $20,000 for a touchdown celebration and wearing blue cleats Monday in a 38-16 win over Washington, wont be matched up with linebacker Vontaze Burfict, who delivered the hit on Brown in postseason and is suspended three games for several egregious hits.Brown told ESPN on Thursday that the fines, namely $12,154 for excessive celebration, is nothing to a boss.In similar confidence, Brown made clear that last seasons drama with the Bengals does not matter, stressing he wants to show every opponent what he can do, not just Cincinnati.Browns bizarre five-minute interview with reporters Friday included several teammates filming him with their smartphones -- rookie cornerback Artie Burns even Snapchatted with Browns own device -- while Brown wore a T-shirt with an emoji of himself on it.Brown also told the media he doesnt want to bring attention to himself with his latest twerk-like touchdown dance. The blue cleats have a to-be-announced message, according to Brown, who said hell probably wear them again. You got to get excited, man. Its the NFL. Its hard to score touchdowns, Brown said of the celebration. Its no derogatory message. Its just me having fun and doing the things as a kid we did in Miami. I never want to put our team in a bad position.Brown wouldnt entertain any questions about whether he harbors negative feelings toward the Bengals over last years matchups, which resulted in more than $200,000 in fine money between both parties, concussions and Twitter spats. Brown simply calls this AFC North football pair same guys, similar matchup, only without Burfict. You know what Vontaze Burfict brings, hes the leaders of the defense, Brown said. Well see what the challenge looks like this weekend. Clay Matthews Youth Jersey. Miller reached right to deflect Mikhail Grabovskis attempt with just over 2 minutes remaining in regulation, and then made two more saves in the shootout Sunday to give the Sabres a 2-1 win over the Washington Capitals. MINNEAPOLIS -- New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. appeared to brush an official as he protested being hit out of bounds in the second quarter against the Minnesota Vikings.Any contact was light and innocuous, but the NFL beefed up its rules after last season to include a strict ban on unnecessary contact with officials during games.NFL rules currently state: Under no circumstance is an official to allow a player to shove, push, or strike him in an offensive, disrespectful, or unsportsmanlike manner. The player shall be disqualified from the game, and any such action must be reported to the commissioner.?The contact occurred with six minutes, 22 seconds remaining before halftime at U.S. Bank Stadium.Beckham and Vikings cornerback Xavier Rhodes had been exchanging verbal barbs for several plays when Rhodes hit Beckham out of bounds after a 4-yard catch. Clay Matthews Womens Jersey. Referee Brad Allens crew did not penalize Rhodes for the late hit, but Beckham was penalized for taunting when he rushed toward Rhodes and bumped him.Beckham then sought out line judge Tom Symonette and, while protesting the hit, appeared to make light contact with him. If Allen had judged there was contact, he would have been within his authority to eject Beckham from the game.?As it is, Beckham will be automatically ejected if he commits another unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. The automatic ejection rule was put in place this season in large part due to Beckhams behavior in a game last season against the Carolina Panthers. He has struggled to rein in his emotions this season as well. ' ' '
The Jose Mourinho era at Manchester United hit its first bump in the road, now the challenge will be to bounce back against a plucky Watford side at Vicarage Road on Sunday. Mike Montgomery Jersey.Since the Portuguese manager was sacked by Chelsea back in December, it almost seemed inevitable The Special One would wind up at Old Trafford. Following a summer in which the club spent north of £119 million for defender Eric Bailly and midfielder Paul Pogba, an undisclosed fee for Borussia Dortmund star Henrikh Mkhitaryan and landed Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a free transfer, expectations in the red half of Manchester are sky high. And Mourinhos retooled side looked the part after three consecutive victories, but last weeks 2-1 setback in the Manchester Derby represented the first setback.Pep Guardiolas Manchester City opened a 2-0 lead on the back of goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Kelechi Iheanacho. Ibrahimovic pulled the Red Devils (2-0-1) within one, but the equaliser proved elusive as City threw the first gauntlet down in the early title race.Old Trafford also seemed a logical landing spot for Ibrahimovic given his previous work with Mourinho at Inter Milan. The former Sweden international explained why he believes the two work well together.I know what he wants, I know his demands, Ibrahimovic said. Hes a winner and I see myself as a winner also. I do anything to win. And we won. He won when he was younger and I won when I was younger and we will win when we are a little bit older. Not old, but a little bit older! He is direct with everyone. He is not someone who goes behind your back. I prefer that instead of someone who doesnt say anything to you. He does what he needs to do to win.On the injury front for United, defender Phil Jones picked up a knee ligament injury and could miss a month of action. Mourinho left several of his first-choice players in Manchester as the club faced Feyenoord in Europa League action on Thursday. Antonio Valencia, Luke Shaw, Jesse Lingaard, Mkhitaryan and Wayne Rooney were all left home as the Red Devils suffered a 1-0 loss in that Europa opener. He has played every game since the start of the season, the manager said of his decision to omit Rooney from the squad. He has also played 90 minutes for the England team. He played 90 minutes last weekend and I want him to be fresh for the next Premier League match. While Watford (1-1-2) do not have any European football to worry about, theyll aim for a second consecutive win following an impressive 4-2 comeback victory over West Ham United last weekend.West Ham raced out to a two-goal margin thanks to a pair of goals from Michail Antonio, but the Hornets responded with four answered tallies to stun the home crowd at Olympic Stadium. Manager Walter Mazzarri applauded his clubs resolve, despite falling into an early deficit. We didnt start very well, we were in the sky as you say in Italy. But when we started to concentrate the result came, said Mazzarri. West Ham had the whole stadium with them. They came to us in a positive way but we started playing our football and the result came our way.I was a bit worried (down 2-0) but even at that score we had chances. We spoke with the players and adjusted a few things, which allowed us to have more possession and attack more.Man U did the double over Watford last season, including a 2-1 win at Vicarage Road in November. The Hornets are also aiming to break some poor history against United as they have never taken a point from the Red Devils in league.Watford have lost all six previous Premier League fixtures against United and have been outscored 16-5. COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The play was 29 Lead, and it will go down in history as how Ohio State beat Michigan in one of the greatest games ever played by the Big Tens most storied rivals.Thats pretty much all Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer wanted to talk about. Everything else about the second-ranked Buckeyes 30-27 victory over the third-ranked Wolverines on Saturday was almost too overwhelming for Meyer to sort out so soon after what he called an instant classic.Curtis Samuel swept in for a 15-yard touchdown on 29 Lead left after Ohio State barely converted a fourth-and-1 in the second overtime. The biggest crowd ever to watch a game in the Horseshoe then began spilling onto the field in a scarlet-covered celebration that included a stirring sing-a-long to Sweet Caroline.I remember that Neil Diamond song, Meyer said about the crazy scene, but he couldnt recall much else. Weird life, man.Very much so because it was not quite clear what else Ohio State (11-1, 8-1 Big Ten, No. 2 CFP) has won.It wont be the Big Ten. No. 8 Penn State beat Michigan State 45-12 in State College, Pennsylvania, to clinch the East Division and a spot in the conference title game next week against No. 5 Wisconsin. Still, the Buckeyes added to a resume that already impressed the College Football Playoff selection committee.Of course, beating That team up North, as Michigan is called around here, is enough reason to party -- and can be hard to put into perspective.I didnt do a lot of thinking, honestly, Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett said after the Buckeyes beat Michigan for a fifth straight time. I just looked around and, man, that just happened. The 113th meeting of Ohio State and Michigan became the first to go to overtime. It was filled with drama, thrills and controversy. Michigan went away feeling dejected and cheated.Facing fourth-and-1 from the 16 in the second overtime and trailing by three, Meyer decided not to try a potential game-tying field goal with Tyler Durbin, who had already missed two short ones in regulation.Barrett kept it on fourth down and slammed into the back of his blocker, A.J. Alexander, right at the line to gain. The first-down call stood on video review. That was not a first down, said Michigans Jim Harbaugh. And then, as if channeling his former coach, Bo Schembechler, Harbaugh added: Im bitterly disappointed with the officiating today. On the next play, Samuel, who had made a swerving, change-of-direction run to set up the fourth-and-1, raced through a lane and skipped into the eend zone for the win. Joe Maddon Jersey. een a part of some crazy football games here, Barrett said. That one was No. 1.Harbaugh drew an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty earlier in the game after an offside on Michigan (10-2, 7-2 Big Ten, No. 3 CFP). He also was angry about a pass interference on Michigan during Ohio States tying drive late and a non-call on a would-be pass interference against the Buckeyes in OT.The loss likely eliminated Michigan from the playoff race. The Wolverines could end up in the Rose Bowl, but the biggest prizes are still eluding them in their second year under Harbaugh, who dropped to 0-2 against Meyer and the Buckeyes. Michigan has not won the Big Ten since 2004.A crowd of 110,045 watched what might just be the second act of a new Ten Year War between Michigan and Ohio State, with Meyer and Harbaugh playing the roles of Woody Hayes and Schembechler . If thats the case, there is much to look forward to for college football fans.THE TAKEAWAYMichigan: Quarterback Wilton Speight returned after missing last weeks game with a left shoulder injury. In many ways, he was Michigans best offensive player, going 23 for 35 for 219 yards and two touchdown passes. He also made three critical turnovers, one interception Malik Hooker returned for a touchdown in the first half and another pick by Jerome Baker that set up Ohio States second touchdown to make it 17-14 with 1:06 left in the third quarter. Its a bummer, you know, knowing I let the defense down, Speight said.Ohio State: Barrett will not go down as Ohio States greatest player, but no one will ever doubt his ability to come up big when the Buckeyes needed him most. He struggled throwing until the fourth quarter and finished 15 for 32 for 132 yards. He was sacked eight times. He also ran for 125 desperately needed yards against a Michigan defense that took almost everything else away.POLL IMPLICATIONSMichigan: A slight drop for the Wolverines, but still a critical one in the playoff rankings.Ohio State: The Buckeyes looked locked in to No. 2.UP NEXTMichigan: The Wolverines will likely go to a New Years Six bowl. The question is whether its Rose or Orange. Maybe Cotton?Ohio State: Maybe a playoff game on New Years Eve? Maybe in the Rose Bowl if the Buckeyes get squeezed out of the playoff? Saturday, kick-off 14:30Rugby Park, KilmarnockScotland will be keen to end their November Test campaign with a comprehensive victory over one of rugbys minnows. Randall Cunningham Eagles Jersey. Complacency hasnt been a trait of Vern Cotters team and they will look to start with the intensity they showed in defeat to Australia and in patches of their victory over Argentina last week. But there is a warning. Georgia will be buoyed having defeated Samoa 20-16 last week in Tbilisi. They are a team fighting for respect in rugby and this will be just their fourth Test against a tier one nation, outside of the World Cup, in 13 years. Scotland follow Ireland (2014), Argentina (2013) and Italy (2003) in hosting the Eastern Europeans.Georgia come into the game brimming with confidence with just one defeat since last years World Cup. They narrowly lost to Japan and during the summer they defeated Tonga, Fiji and Samoa. A big performance is expected to prove that they could belong in an expanded Six Nations.Team newsScotland have largely kept faith with the side that overcame Los Pumas last week, with Huw Jones, missing through injury, replaced by Mark Bennett at centre. Richie Gray returns at lock having missed last weeks game through concussion. The other three changes see Ross Ford come in at hooker and Rob Harley and Ryan Wilson come into the back row.Georgia make just one change with Giorgi Aptsiauri coming in on the wing to replace Giorgi Koshadze while there is one positional switches with Tamaz Mchedlidze moving from the wing to centre.Scotland: Hogg, Maitland, Bennett, Dunbar, Seymour, Russell, Laidlaw; Dell, Ford, Fagerson, R Gray, J Gray, Harley, Watson, Wilson.Replacements: Brown, Allan, Low, Gilchrist, Barclay, Price, Horne, Hughes.Georgia: Kvirikashvili, Aptsiauri, Sharikadze, Mchedlidze, Todua, Malaguradze, Lobzhanidze; Nariashvili, Bregvadze, Chilachava, Mikautadze, Nemsadze, Kolelishvili, Gorgodze, Bitsadze.Replacements: Alkhazashvili, Asieshvili, Kubriashvili, Lomidze, Tkhilaishvili, Begadze, Tsiklauri, Sutiashvili.Key head-to-headBoth of Georgias tries last week came courtesy of their pack, which destroyed the Samoan scrum. They will hope that can be a launchpad for another upset in Scotland. Front row Levan Chilachava was immense for Georgia last week and made a 20-metre break which should have resulted in a try.He, and the rest of the Georgia pack will be up against it against a Scottish side led by Lions candidate Jonny Gray. Their win over Argentina was what they needed as preparation for this weekend. It will be a challenge, but one which the Scottish pack should overcome.Key stats*This will be the second time the two sides have met, with Scotland beating Georgia 15-6 at the 2011 Rugby World Cup.*Georgia, who are 12th in the World Rugby rankings, have never beaten tier one opposition, playing 15 Tests and losing them all.Weather It will be cold and cloudy at Rugby Park on Saturday, but the fog should make way for sunshine by kick-off.PredictionScotland should have far too much fire power to down the Georgian minnows. While victories over the Pacific Island teams prove theyre improving, competing with a Southern Hemisphere powerhouse is still some way off. Scotland have built competition in places, and Mark Bennett is one who will be keen to make the most of his opportunity. It just didnt show when he hit the ice. Berra made 42 saves and Kris Russell scored at 1:32 of overtime, lifting the Calgary Flames to a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday night. OAKLAND, Calif. -- A day earlier, Jered Weaver watched the frightening play as teammate Matt Shoemaker went down when hit in the head by a screaming line drive. It was kind of a weird game yesterday, its almost like you dont know what to do as far as, `Do we keep playing this game or what? Weaver said.He then got hit himself Monday, initially staying in after taking a third-inning line drive from Danny Valencia in the right hip and back side during Los Angeles 10-7 victory against the Oakland Athletics. It was another scare for an Angels starter after Shoemakers ordeal. He suffered a small skull fracture in Seattle and needed surgery to stop bleeding on his brain. While his behind is bruised and sore, Weaver had no concerns about making his next turn.It was like pitching on one leg, really, I couldnt really drive off my back side, so I figured it was a good idea to bring in somebody who had fresh legs, Weaver said. Its more like I sat on the toilet for too long.Weaver joined Chuck Finley and Nolan Ryan as the only pitchers to reach 2,000 innings in an Angels uniform. The bullpen then took over and handled things for the Angels again in their third straight win.Kole Calhoun hit a solo home run in the second inning, Albert Pujols had a two-run double in the fourth and Nick Buss added two sacrifice flies in the Angels seventh win in their last nine road games.Khris Davis hit his 35th homer leading off the seventh to pull Oakland within 8-7, but his ninth-inning error in left field allowed Andrelton Simmons to score an insurance run.In the seventh, Ryon Healy singled to put the tying run aboard when Jose Valdez entered as the Angels fourth reliever. He retired pinch-hitter Chad Pinder on a fly ball before Jake Smolinskis single and a walk to Bruce Maxwell loaded the bases. But Marcus Semien flied out.Valdez (1-1) earned his first major league win before former As closer Andrew Bailey finished for the Angels in a second straight game. It was just his second save since 2013 with the Red Sox.We cracked the door for those guys with walks, Angels manager Mike Scioscia said.Valencia hit a two-run homer in the first for the As, who were nearly no-hit a day earlier by Boston and didnt have their first baserunner until the sixth inning Saturday against Red Sox ace Rick Porcello.Joey WWendle had his first career RBI on a single in the fourth, when Maxwell added a two-run double one out later. F1 qualifying will revert to the 2015 format from the next race in Bahrain after team bosses agreed to immediately drop the elimination-style system. Andy Dalton Womens Jersey. The sports new-look qualifying format for 2016 endured a disastrous debut at the Australian GP on Saturday with cars repeatedly not on track at the end of the three sessions - including the final minutes of Q3 when pole position should have been fought between the two quickest drivers.Team principals, including Christian Horner, Toto Wolff and Maurizio Arrivabene, and sporting directors met with FIA race director Charlie Whiting to discuss an urgent response on Sunday morning in Melbourne. Horner and Wolff confirmed on their departures from the 25-minute meeting that the team representatives had unanimously agreed to drop the system with immediate effect.Pending official ratification by the F1 Commission and World Motor Sport Council, the qualifying system will revert to the more standard three-part knockout format used between 2006 and 2015 from the Bahrain GP on April 2-3.We made a mistake and will go back for the next race, Horner told Sky Sports News HQ. We are usually a pretty dysfunctional group but there was absolute unanimity. After securing his 50th career pole position, Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton revealed that his engineers had predicted that the new qualifying format woul Were tickling with the wrong areas. Its like trying to introduce a second ball on the pitch in football. The problems arent in the format of qualifying or what a grand prix is. 2017 represents a great opportunity with different regs and thats the opportunity that should be used for closer racing. All the teams are looking to protect their competitiveness, but youve got to look at the bigger picture. What do the fans want? Primarily a drivers championship. Drivers racing wheel to wheel in exciting fast cars. When you try and get 11 teams to write that on a piece of paper what it should be, thats where it goes wrong. Thats where it should be taken out of the teams hands. The promoter and the governing body should say, this is what Formula 1s going to be, sign up or do something else.A shake-up of knockout qualifying was only first agreed two weeks ago and had already provoked controversy among drivers, who had argued that it would not work.Team managers also met with FIA race director Charlie Whiting to express reservations about the new-look Q3 during testing at Barcelona, but the elimination system was subsequently rubber-stamped in its original form last week. Conclusions from QualifyingMercedes boss Wolff said that while there would not be any further tinkering with the qualifying system over the rest of the season, F1 shouldnt wipe completely off the table the idea of creating a new format to spice up the show in future. Anthony had 24 points and nine rebounds, and the Knicks avenged an embarrassing home loss with a rout of their own, beating the Boston Celtics 114-88 on Wednesday night for their third straight victory. The ink on Giannis Antetokounmpos new four-year, $100 million contract extension with Milwaukee hadnt even dried yet when the news came out on Sept. 21 that his teammate, Khris Middleton, had torn his left hamstring and would likely be out for six months. What a crushing blow to the Bucks, losing one of the games most underrated players for the majority of the 2016-17 NBA season. To me, all this did is drive home how much every players fantasy value is directly tied in with those around him. Losing Middleton, who quietly averaged 18.2 points and 1.8 3-pointers per game last season while shooting 88.8 percent from the free throw line, dishing out 4.2 assists and swiping 1.7 steals, means teammates like Antetokounmpo must step up to fill his void. For a player like Antetokounmpo, who already set career highs in just about every statistical category last season, the expectations suddenly rise to a whole new level. Hell likely play more than the 35.3 minutes he averaged last season, and theres a good chance his 21.8 usage rate will also rise. Thats why we have bumped the Greek Freak up two spots from No. 14 to No. 12 on our rankings. Keep in mind, too, that if Antetokounmpo adds a 3-point shot to his already impressive repertoire this season, hes a top 5 fantasy player for years to come. The ripple effects from Middletons injury dont stop there, however, as players like Michael Beasley -- acquired from Houston after Middleton went down -- and Mirza Teletovic, acquired as a free agent over the summer, now have a chance to see expanded roles with the Bucks. Beasley jumped from No. 173 to No. 141 and Teletovic from No. 134 to No. 118 in the rankings.Losing Middleton in fantasy this season also thins out the two positions he qualifies at, shooting guard and small forward, making players like Carmelo Anthony, Nicolas Batum, DeMar DeRozan, Evan Fournier and Trevor Ariza more valuable in that 30-50 range of the draft. As we move ahead, with the NBAs regular season set to tip off on Oct. 25, here are some of the other big changes to the ESPN fantasy basketball rankings since our last update on Sept. 1.Uncertainty with Chris Bosh: We already ranked Bosh fairly low in our previous rankings, putting him at No. 120, but he drops to No. 160 following the news of his failed physical with Miami. Heat president Pat Riley already came out and said that the team views Boshs career with Miami as over. Whether Bosh ever playss again for another team remains to be seen, but at this point theres a very real chance that his recurring blood clot issues in recent years could keep the 32-year-old off the court for good. Jonah Williams Bengals Jersey. Jrue Holidays situation: Shortly after our last rankings came out, which pegged Holiday No. 53 overall, the New Orleans point guard announced that he would miss the start of the season to be with his wife, Lauren, who faces brain surgery. My family comes before basketball, Holiday told The Times-Picayune. Im obviously blessed to play this game and be in the position I am in, but my wife is the most important thing in the world to me. She comes before anything else. Lauren has since given birth to a healthy baby girl, which is wonderful news, but now must prepare for surgery to remove a tumor. We wish her and the whole Holiday family well throughout this difficult time. The rise of Myles Turner and DAngelo Russell: In the dozens of mock drafts I took part in throughout September, no two players were consistently drafted well above their listed ranking than Turner and Russell. Its clear that both were listed too low in our earlier rankings, and therefore an adjustment is order for each of the talented second-year players. Turner moves up from No. 101 to No. 72, while Russell goes from No. 81 to No. 66.Biggest fallers: Aside from Middleton, Bosh and Holiday, who each slid in the rankings for very separate reasons, several others moved down because they were simply ranked too high. Notables from that list include Klay Thompson (27 to 32), Andre Iguodala (93 to 122), Dwyane Wade (57 to 64) and Bradley Beal (59 to 75). These adjustments are more in line with where these players are being drafted in most ESPN drafts.Hardens new position: You will find many players now qualify at multiple positions, but there is no bigger one to take note of than James Harden, who has moved to point guard. Ive mentioned over the past few weeks how important it is to draft a point guard in the top 30 picks of the draft, and with Harden now qualifying at both point guard and shooting guard -- and Rockets coach Mike DAntoni scheming to get the ball in Hardens hands more than ever before -- an argument can certainly be made for drafting Harden first overall ahead of Oklahoma Citys Russell Westbrook. NEW YORK -- Baruch College gave 30 student-athletes more than $255,000 in improper benefits over the course of five years, NCAA officials said in a decision issued Thursday. Lorenzen Wright Jersey. The NCAA Division III Committee on Infractions said the schools former vice president for student affairs and enrollment management and its former head womens basketball coach both violated NCAA ethical conduct rules. As I stated unambiguously to the NCAA, Baruch College accepts, and takes full responsibility for, the fact that some improper benefits were made available to a limited number of student-athletes during the period from 2010-2015, Baruch Colleges President Mitchel B. Wallerstein said in a statement. The committee said in its report that it had not seen a high-level campus administrator who had such breadth and scope of responsibilities in an infractions case as the former vice president. The former vice president wanted to raise the profile of athletics at the college and as part of that effort he was closely involved in the recruitment, admission and awarding of financial aid for prospects and student-athletes, especially in the sport of womens basketball, Gerald Houlihan, a member of the infractions committee. The administrator and coach were not named in the report and university officials declined to name them. The former vice president, who was with the institution for 10 years, and former head womens basketball coach knowingly arranged or provided impermissible financial aid and extra benefits to student-athletes, according to the NCAA.However, the former vice president claimed he did not receive education on NCAA rules, therefore the violations were inadvertent. The former head womens basketball coach also said he had insufficient rules education, according to the NCAA.The penalties include four years of probation, a one-year postseason ban for the womens basketball team and prohibiting the coach and vice president from all athletically related duties for one year. When asked about the possibility of an appeal, Baruch spokesperson Christina Latouf said the college will digest the information and respond at another time. The school in Manhattan has 18,000 students and 13 sports teams, according to its website.Violations included granting in-state residency based on athletics, providing impermissible financial aid, cash awards and extra benefits and choosing student-athletes for resident assistant positions when they were not qualified. The case started when Baruch College received two anonymous letters in early 2013 that alleged the former vice president provided two student-athletes improper financial aid. An internal investigation was conducted and a self-report was submitted to the NCAA enforcement staff in January 2014.Wallerstein said the college made some changes during the course of the NCAAs investigation, including revamping the role of the athletics director, appointing a new faculty athletics representative, establishing an athletics compliance team and improving training on student-athlete recruitment and financial aid. This was not the first time Baruch College was found to have committed major violations. In the 2004-05 and 2005-06 academic years, the womens basketball program was involved in a work-study program that wasnt monitored correctly and led to extra benefits and wages for work not completed. Penalties included one year probation, a $5,000 penalty, vacated wins, and a two-game suspension for an assistant coach.Houlihan said the prior case did not factor into the committees decision.I am committed to having an Athletics Program at Baruch College of which our students, faculty, staff, and the entire Baruch community can be proud and that is managed in an ethical and responsible fashion, Wallerstein said. OAKLAND, Calif. -- Mariners right-hander Felix Hernandez lost his pitching groove in his past two starts, but history tells us hell be at the right place to get it back Saturday afternoon when he faces the Oakland As at the Oakland Coliseum.Hernandez is 11-3 with a 2.92 ERA in 22 career starts at the Coliseum. Overall against the As, hes 22-8 with a 2.67 ERA in 42 career starts.Hernandez is 10-5 with a 3.75 ERA this season, but in his past two starts, both against the Texas Rangers, he went 1-1 with an 11.17 ERA, allowing 12 runs on 10 hits and walking eight in 9 2/3 innings. Hernandez gave up six runs and walked four over 5 2/3 innings Monday in a 14-6 victory against the Rangers. He had some (command) issues, Mariners manager Scott Servais said Friday before Seattles 3-2 victory against Oakland in the series opener. Kind of got away from him in one inning. He threw 48 or 49 pitches. Very un-Felix like. He did hang in there and get through it. Its been a really weird year for him I think, even from the start of the season before the injury. The command, the walks have been up, bottom line. Its not typical of him, but hes found a way to keep us in games. You look up, hes got 10 wins now. Hes done what we needed him to do. It just hasnt been the over-the-top domination performances that were used to seeing.Hernandez went on the disabled list on June 1, retroactive to May 28, with a strained right calf and missed 43 games. Since coming off the DL on July 20, hes gone 6-1 with a 4.62 ERA in starts over 64 1/3 innings. He allowed 56 hits, including 10 home runs, struck out 54 and walked 30 during that span.I think the consistency of his curveball has maybe not been as good, Servais said. Thats always been there for him. Some outings its better than others. Thats the one pitch that probably hasnt been as consistent. The changeups still there. Its a matter if they can lay off it or not.The Mariners pulled to within 3 1/2 games of Baltimore and Detroit for the second wild-card playoff spot in the American League.Gaining more ground Saturday could be a challenge when thhey face right-hander Kendall Graveman (10-9), the As hottest pitcher. Allen Iverson Grizzlies Jersey. Over his past six starts, Graveman went 4-2 with a 1.93 ERA. He struck out 21 and walked six over 42 innings during that stretch.Gravemans worst start during that span came against the Mariners on Aug. 13 in a 4-3 loss at the Coliseum. He allowed four runs on four hits, including first-pitch home runs to Robinson Cano and Nelson Cruz, over six innings.I thought I threw the ball well, all except a couple of pitches there, Graveman said.Graveman will make his team- and career-high 28th start of the season. Hes the only member of the As original rotation who hasnt missed a start and hasnt spent time on the disabled list.Based on the fact weve had so many guys go down, and to have the stability of a guy making every start and giving the team the confidence they have when he takes the mound is paramount, As manager Bob Melvin said. But for him to know he can go through a season like this and get stronger as the season went along, knock wood, hes done his best work here the last month, and is going deeper in games, too. Thats something thats difficult to do over the course of the season and it speaks to his conditioning, how he takes care of himself. Because a lot of times this time of year guys are going the other direction, and he seems to be getting better and better. After going 1-6 with a 5.36 ERA in his first nine starts, Graveman has gone 9-3 with a 3.18 ERA over his past 18.Graveman is 0-2 with a 5.40 ERA in three starts against the Mariners this season and 1-2 with a 3.71 ERA for his career. Gravemans lone win against Seattle came last season on July 4 at the Coliseum in his lone career start against Hernandez.Graveman pitched seven shutout innings in a 2-0 victory, while Hernandez allowed two runs over seven innings and took the tough loss. Its going to be a good matchup, Graveman said. Theyve been playing some good baseball over there. Im excited. ' ' '

Chicago Bulls Jerseys. Arsenal showed no mercy, however, as they scored again just before half time, Mesut Ozil finding Sanchez on the break and volleying the dinked return ball down into the turf en route to finding the back of the net.Arsenal played an efficient second half rather than a spectacular one, and Chelsea could have pulled one back at the death when substitute Michy Batshuayi ran through on goal, but Petr Cech made an excellent save. SAN DIEGO -- Bennie Boatwright hobbled out of Jenny Craig Pavilion on crutches and his sprained left knee in a brace, an injury that put a damper on Southern Californias 76-55 victory against San Diego and left the undefeated Trojans wondering how long theyll be without their second-leading scorer. Leonys Martin Indians Jersey. The 6-foot-10 sophomore forward was hurt when he collided with USDs Juwan Gray while taking a shot just three minutes in. Boatwright stayed on the floor for a few minutes while being tended to and had to be helped to the bench. He also had to be helped into the locker room at halftime.Coach Andy Enfield said Boatwright will have an MRI exam on Thursday. Were hoping its just a sprain, Enfield said. Were hoping for the best. Hell certainly be out for a while. Were hoping its a few weeks vs. the season.Chimezie Metu had 19 points and 13 rebounds, and Elijah Stewart scored 15 points for the Trojans (7-0), who led the whole way in beating the Toreros for the second straight season. DeAnthony Melton added 14.Boatwright, who missed the first two games with back spasms, was averaging 13.5 points. It has an effect because our rotation is not the same as it would be with him in there. Hes a unique player, with his size and his guard skills, Enfield added. We had to go small, and then we went big. Thank goodness Chimezie is skilled enough to play both front-line positions. ... Our players just have to step up.Metu agreed. Its one less scoring option on offense. At times when we didnt have him it was hard for us to score. Were just going to have to work through it.Olin Carter III scored 21 for USD, while Brett Bailey had 17 and Tyler Williams 10.TALL TROJANUSC was too big and talented for the Toreros, particularly the 6-foot-11 Metu, who was 9 of 11 from the floor. He had a tip-in off a rebound, a turnaround jumper, a jump hook and a slam dunk off a rebound. The teams combined to miss 14 straight shots early in the second half, each going about six minutes without scoring.Metu broke the Trojans drought with a slam dunk on an alley-oop pass from Jordan McLaughlin.BIG PICTUREUSC: The Trojans are off to their best start since going 8-0 to open the 2000-01 season. SPRINGFIELD, N.J. -- Jimmy Walkers first major victory at the 98th PGA came with some stiff pressure after Jason Days eagle on the final hole cut Walkers edge to one shot.So which moments will be the lasting memory from 2016s final major? Our extended panel of experts share their take on Sundays finish.1. More impressive, a wire-to-wire win for Walker or sinking that putt on the 72nd hole to seal the victory?SportsCenter anchor Matt Barrie:?You cant have the wire-to-wire victory without making the putt on the 72nd hole. Walker stood in the fairway on 18 and watched Jason Day eagle, only to hit an errant second shot and get up and down. The putt won him his first major. Wire-to-wire was the result.SportsCenter anchor Jonathan Coachman:?A wire-to-wire win. The final putt on 18 was not that difficult. Leading after every round with all of those big names on your heels is hard to fathom, especially when you have never won a major before. I also thought that a bogey-free round was nothing short of remarkable with that kind of pressure and the amount of holes played on Sunday. He was rock solid, which was impressive.ESPN.com senior golf analyst Michael Collins:?The wire-to-wire victory. Making a three foot putt to win is stressful to watch but theres a reason player look surprised when they miss. Cause it doesnt happen often. Winning wire-to-wire while sleeping on a lead every night is so much harder, thats why it doesnt happen often especially in majors.ESPN.com senior golf writer Bob Harig:?Going wire to wire. Walker had been mostly a non-factor this year. You hardly saw his name. He missed two cuts in majors and he was on nobodys list to win this week. Even after the first-round 65, did anyone figure hed be there at the end? It was a strong week.ESPN.com senior national columnist Ian OConnor:?The wire-to-wire win. For a 37-year-old man who had never finished in the top five of a major to keep his concentration through the stops and starts of a wet week, and across a 36-hole Sunday finish, was a hell of a feat. I mightve felt differently if Walker needed a 1-putt to avoid the playoff.ESPN.com senior writer Kevin Van Valkenburg:?Definitely the wire-to-wire win. Its so hard to win a major when you have to sleep on the lead every night. Walker never blinked after his opening round 65. Usually the PGA Championship is volatile because there are a lot of birdie opportunities out there. Its easy to get run down by a hot putter. Making that 3-footer was nice, but he has made a million of those over his career. That was just the cherry on a long week.2. Fact or fiction: Jimmy Walker wins another major title in his career.Barrie:?Fact. He has had the game since he burst onto the scene in 2014 with his first career win. Winning a major takes the doubt out of his mind and game that seemed to always show up come major time. I dont think we have a Dufner-Keegan-Webb one timer.Coachman:?Fiction. Its so hard to win a major. And for Jimmy Walker, he has not exactly been beating on the door of a major very often. And as he is closer to 40 than 20, it will not get any easier. But he definitely has the talent and in 2016 I dont think anyone would have picked any of the major champions with the exception of Dustin Johnson. So heck, I dont know if I am right. But Jimmy Walker certainly hopes I am.Collins:?Fact. Jimmy will win one more before hes done with his PGA Tour career. Hell win another PGA.Harig:?Fiction, only because its so hard to do, there are so many players who can win them, and nothing is ever guaranteed.OConnor:?Fiction, much as I hate to say it. Jason Day, Dustin Johnson, and even Henrik Stenson are more likely to join the multiple major club in the near future. Walker shouldnt fret about it. Some pretty damn good players (example: Fred Couples) before him ended up with only one major. Golf is hard, as they say. Winning is harder.Van Valkenburg:?Ill say fiction. Its really hard to win majors, and Im not sure I believe Walker is an elite player. He has never been particularly accurate off the tee, and hes a good putter but not a great one. He had a great stretch two years ago when he won four times in 18 months and finished in tthe top 10 of three majors, but since then, his results in majors (until this week) have been pretty dismal. Bob Feller Jersey. Maybe this will spark something in him, but I think this might be his one shot at glory.3. Jason Day nearly rallied for the win. What kept him from defending his title at the PGA Championship?Barrie:?His shaky start on Sunday. Day would love to have the first hole back when he started with bogey. Late in his final round it appeared he made some wrong club choices that kept his birdie putts from too long a distance to score routinely, and he still had a shot. Eliminate the front nine mistakes, and he likely repeats.Coachman:?He had two bad nines this weekend and going backward at the start of his final round really hurt. Day is so good about rebounding from early bogeys, but when you are dealing with so many solid players, even one bogey can hurt you. Look at Walker; he did not have one bogey and he won by a stroke. Thats how close these tournaments are and for Day it cost him on Sunday.Collins:?The missed birdie putt at the 17th hole. Baltusrol is known for its greens being very hard to read and Day misread that putt. It also didnt help that his first 18 holes on Sunday, even though Day was bogey free, he managed only one birdie on the back nine.Harig:?The slow start to the fourth round ultimately doomed Day. He bogeyed two of the first three holes and was never able to recover on a day where there werent many birdies to be made. He hung in there, but was unable to ever catch Walker.OConnor:?That missed birdie putt at 17. If Day makes that, and it was ultra-makeable, he forces a playoff and I believe he wins that playoff. Hard to believe Day didnt win a major this year. I could see him winning five or six before hes done.Van Valkenburg:?Jimmy Walker. I dont think there is much Day could have done differently. That 2-iron he hit into the 18th green, had it forced a playoff, would have gone down as a legendary swing. With Rory McIlroy feeling lost on the greens and Jordan Spieth dealing with the added burden of expectations and fame, its clear Day is the most consistent player in the big three. Hopefully he and Dustin Johnson will create some excitement in the FedExCup.4. Ten years from now, what will you remember most about this week at Baltusrol?Barrie:?Walkers birdie out of the trap on 10 and Jason Days two iron from 280-plus on the par-5 18th. Both of those were championship golf shots. And in the end, Walker capped off the 2016 major season as the fourth first-time winner.Coachman:?I will remember how many big names were fighting for this title. And how the rain caused the course to become much easier. And that part is disappointing. When you have lift, clean and place rules in effect, its hard to have mishits and big scores. But the drama was still there. And thats all I care about as a fan and as a viewer.Collins:?The weather bullet we dodged on Sunday. Everyone from players, caddies, and media was planning on being in New Jersey until Tuesday after the weather that hit Saturday and the forecast we all saw. How we got off the hook ?? Well be talking about that for a long time.Harig:?The negativity. The crankiness. The weather. Playing just two weeks after The Open really turned into a tough deal for the PGA, which had a hard time getting its due so soon after. And then the weather issues and a diminished Baltusrol led to a marathon that will be remembered more for getting done than for who won.OConnor:?Rain. Never in my life have I been more shocked that a golf tournament finished on a Sunday night. Still have no idea how Baltusrol and the PGA of America did it. Never mind Monday; I was clearing my schedule for Tuesday.Van Valkenburg:?Mostly the rain. Its always disappointing when weather wreaks havoc with a major, but thats the way it goes sometimes. Brooks Koepka contending despite torn ligaments in his ankle was pretty memorable too, but other than Days 2-iron into 18, it seemed like we didnt have a lot of thrills this year, just methodical excellence by Walker. Names like Sandy Koufax and Don Drysdale, Warren Spahn and Johnny Sain, Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling, Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer, I could go on and on. Just check out the American League East. Bostons dynamic duo of Clay Buchholz and Jon Lester are a combined 15-3, with Buchholz, a Cy Young contender at (9-0) with a 1.71 ERA. The Red Sox as a team have put together a division leading 39 quality starts (at least 6 innings, allowing three runs or less) in 68 games. Its no wonder manager John Farrells crew is in first place. Baltimore Orioles pulled into second place in the Division Thursday night with a 13 inning, 5-4 win over the Red Sox. The Orioles one-two combo of Jason Hamel (7-4) and Chris Tillman (6-2), have 14 quality starts between them and the team has 31 in total. The New York Yankees, who slipped to third behind the Orioles, actually have quality starts in more than half their games, 36 in total in 66 games. Hiroki Kuroda (6-5) 2.78 has nine, while C.C Sabathia (6-5) 4.07 has seven. Tampa Bay Rays holding fourth, and getting by without their injured ace David Price, have 31 quality starts and arguably the best one-two punch of young pitchers in the Majors. Matt Moore is (8-2) with a 3.78 ERA with 13 quality starts, one for every start hes made, while Alex Cobb is (6-2) 2.95 with nine quality starts in 12 outings.  All of this brings us to the Toronto Blue Jays and a big part of the reason, theyre in last place in the East. They have only 26 quality starts in 65 games. Their top two starters, R.A Dickey and Mark Buehrle, are a combined (7-12). Dickey (5-8) has an ERA of 5.11, while Buehrle at (2-4), is just marginally better at 5.06. The two starters have at least combined for 15 of the Jays 26 quality starts. Even the lowly Houston Astros have more quality starts than the Jays at 28 and Bud Norris has more than either Dickey or Buehrle with nine. Starting pitching isnt the Blue Jays only problem, but it is the most glaring.  The other two division leaders actually have the most impressive pitching stats in this regard. Oakland AAthletics have 41 quality starts in 68 games, led by the ageless wonder Bartolo Colon, who holds a record of 8-2 with a 2. Hydro Flask Goedkoop. 92 ERA and has 10 quality starts in 13 appearances. Tommy Milone is (6-5) 3.69 with seven quality starts. The As also have two other starters who go deep into games in Jarrod Parker who has nine quality starts and A.J Griffin who has eight. Detroit Tigers though are the Kingpins as they have 45 quality starts in 64 games. Max Scherzer is (9-0) with a 3.19 ERA and nine quality starts, while Justin Verlander is (8-4) 3.41 with 10 quality starts.  After a tremendous start under dire circumstances, the Yankees are starting to come back to the pack a bit. Theyve lost three in a row and have fallen a game behind the Orioles for the second Wild Card spot in the American League. Their struggles largely boil down to a lack of hitting. Before Robinson Cano homered Thursday, they had gone a stretch of five games without a round-tripper, their longest drought in more than five years. Kevin Youkilis and Mark Teixeira are back from the disabled list but they are both struggling. Teixeira is hitting .163 and Youkilis .229, while Vernon Wells a revelation the first couple of months, went 0 for 8 on Thursday with three strikeouts and is hitting just .229. In fact Brett Gardner and Cano are the only two really hitting for the Yankees right now. When A-Rod and Jeter get back, they may have depth to trade for another bat or two. If they dont, they may yet live up to the predictions of those who said they would miss the post-season. Another worrisome point for the Yankees, They are 23-10 against teams with sub-500 records, but only 14-19 vs. teams with winning records. Athletics on the other hand are a team on a mission. Theyre won 21 of their last 26 and at 41-27 are off to their best start since 1990, a year they lost to the Reds in the World Series. They have also won 11 in a row at home, and their closer, 35 year old Aussie born Grant Balfour, has saved 35 games in a row dating back to April 29th of last year. Balfour is just five saves shy of Dennis Eckersleys all-time club record for consecutive saves. ' ' '

LOUIS -- Rookie Tavon Austin has missed another day of practice, lessening the odds hell be ready for the St. Kevin Wilson and Mike Neu gleefully walked away with wins last week. What the Indiana and Ball State coaches both found after watching game tape was far from perfect. They saw all those typical first-game problems -- penalties, turnovers, poor decisions, lapses of judgment and overall sloppiness. So when the two in-state schools meet Saturday in Bloomington, both will be in cleanup mode.I guess that means you never coach until after the first game, Wilson joked when asked why so many improvements are made from Week 1 to Week 2. I think the real thing for kids is once you get out there, you do all the game situations, clock managements, all the down-and-distances. You do as much as you can to make it like a game. Until youre out there standing by a fast, two-by-four, those risks are greater. And its easier for a coach to get players attention and reteach the fine points of football.Wilson cant quibble with the results.Indianas oft-maligned defense scored 16 points, Devine Redding produced his fourth straight 100-yard game and the Hoosiers (1-0) have won three of their last four. But Wilson understands if problems, such as Reddings fumble against Florida International, persist, the wins may start slipping away, too.He (Redding) is getting ready to start seeing the bench, Wilson said Monday. Theres a standard of quarterback play. Theres a standard of taking care of the ball. Hes going to clean that up.Meanwhile, in Muncie, the former Ball State quarterback and first-year coach Mike Neu is holding a similar conversation.Yes, the Cardinals (1-0) beat Georgia State 31-21.The biggest concern might be sophomore quarterback Riley Neal threw two interceptions -- with one, on the third play of the game, returned for a touchdown.Neu knows if that happens this week, against a defense that returned two interceptions for scores last week, the Cardinals upset hopes will wither. The goal is just simply to win, Neu said. Koen Casteels Jersey. Adversity is going to present itself, we just didnt know it was going to be the third play of the game with a pick-six. Its not the way you want to start, but our guys stuck together. Here are some other things to watch Saturday:CHANGED DEFENSESIn 2015, the Hoosiers had one of the Big Tens worst defenses. Ball States defense was rated just as bad in the Mid-American Conference. Last week, both took a major step forward. Indiana forced six three-and-outs while the Cardinals forced seven straight punts. Now the defenses must prove their Week 1 success was not an aberration.GILBERT ON GROUNDWhile Neal struggled early, sophomore running back James Gilbert played the best game of his college career. He rushed 29 times for 160 yards and two TDs, the key component in an offense that rushed for 325 yards. If they come close to replicating that performance, Ball State could pull another surprise.THREE WARNING SHOTSNeu may still be getting acclimated to his new job, but he has a pretty good idea how Indianas coaches will motivate their players. Im sure they are going to remind their guys of the last three times they played Ball State. After losing the first four in this series, Ball State has won the last three -- 42-20 in Bloomington in 2008, 27-20 in Indianapolis in 2011, and 41-39 at Indiana in 2012.HOME SWEET HOMEAfter winning their third straight road game, the first time Indiana has done that since 1982, the Hoosiers return to Bloomington where theyve won 13 of their last 14 home openers including four of five during Wilsons tenure. Heck, a few more wins in the coming weeks might even evoke talk of cracking the AP Top 25 .---Online: APs college football page: http://collegefootball.ap.org ' ' '
It sure didnt take long for Seattle forward Breanna Stewart to make an impact in the WNBA. Miami Heat Jerseys .The three-time college national player of the year at Connecticut is coming off the third-highest scoring performance by a rookie in league history as she leads the Seattle Storm into Thursdays home contest against the Dallas Wings.Stewart scored 38 points on 12-of-16 shooting in Tuesdays 84-81 victory over the Atlanta Dream. Only Candace Parker (40 in 2008) and Odyssey Sims (39 in 2014) have tallied more as a rookie. The point total was also the second most in Storm history behind Lauren Jacksons 47-point performance in 2007.Stewart has topped 20 points in each of the last four games and is averaging 29.3 points during the stretch. She suddenly ranks fifth in the league in scoring (18.9) as well as second in rebounding (9.4).Shes adapting, Storm coach Jenny Boucek said after Tuesdays victory. We have players on this team that are willing and able to create for not only themselves, but for others as well. And thats what we want.Right now Stewie is getting hers, but it could be different on another night. Stewie has shown that shes willing to be a facilitator if thats what the defense is giving her. Thats one of my favorite things about our team, including Stewie.Seattle (6-9) is building with Stewart and second-year guard Jewell Loyd, who ranks ninth in the league at 16.6 points. Veteran point guard Sue Bird is averaging 13.8 points and 5.5 assists.Dallas (7-9) has lost consecutive games and saw a 19-point halftime lead slip away during Tuesdays 89-84 road loss against the Los Angeles Sparks. The Wings scored a season-best 53 first-half points but were dominated in the second half while being outscored 55-31.We have to put together a 40-minute game, Dallas guard Skylar Diggins said after the loss. I thought we let little things add up such as outside defense. We havent been able to do that this whole season. There are no excuses. We just have to look at film and make the adjustments and get ready for Seattle, who is another tough team.Diggins scored a season-high 29 points on 12-of-17 shooting in the loss and ranks third on the team in scoring at 14.1 points per game. The Argentines recently avenged their 2012 Olympic final defeat to the Netherlands in the Champions Trophy final in London. The key thing for India is that they can dominate matches in chunks, and when they do that they tend to play free-flowing hockey and score lots of goals. He returned less than a month later, and finished the season with nine goals, 34 assists and an average ice time of 25 minutes, 14 seconds. Curley Culp Womens Jersey . Denis Coderre, the former federal MP who was elected mayor on Nov. 3, has drawn the ire of some Montreal Canadiens. During last nights game he tweeted: "Hello? Earl Campbell Titans Jersey . - Chris Tierney snapped a tie with a power-play goal late in the third period as the London Knights rallied from a 3-0 deficit to beat the Erie Otters 5-3 in Ontario Hockey League action on Wednesday. http://www.authentictitanspro.com/Aj-brown-titans-jersey/ .com) - The game was all punts and field goals before Kodi Whitfields catch. Since we last checked on goaltender timeshares a month ago, three of the four teams we discussed are no longer relevant as we have the same discussion again. The Winnipeg Jets have clearly chosen Connor Hellebuyck as their go-to starter, though his resultant fantasy value is debatable behind the clubs run-and-gun offense. The Dallas Stars are still in a full-blown timeshare, but have shown absolutely no ability for either goalie to maintain even short bouts of fantasy relevance, due to horrible ratios and a lack of wins. The Philadelphia Flyers had their decision made for them by an injury, but Steve Mason has struggled to find consistent footing since Michal Neuvirth was hurt, and should be on fantasy benches -- if on rosters at all.Well check in on the Tampa Bay Lightning again, who appear to be in the exact same position they were a month ago, and three other teams that have landed on the timeshare radar:Tampa Bay Lightning: Ben Bishop has the advantage in starts, leading Andrei Vasilevskiy 12-7 in that category. But in November, that advantage has been only 5-4, as Vasilevskiy is coming on stronger with his play. In fact, the younger goaltender is the owner of a two-game shutout streak and has won three straight in the crease. Vasilevskiys play has pushed coach Jon Cooper into forcing close to a 50-50 timeshare. The Lightning are still a very good team without Steven Stamkos, and should win enough games to give the captain a chance to return for the playoffs. Between now and then, Bishop and Vasilevskiy are going to combine for excellent numbers, but if you dont own them both in fantasy, this is going to be frustrating.Pittsburgh Penguins: Were still calling this a timeshare, though Matt Murray seems to be pulling away from Marc-Andre Fleury very quickly. Fleurys 3.09 goals-against average in October was forgivable because he went 6-2-1 in the crease. Since Murray returned from a wrist injury, Fleury still has a GAA north of 3.00, but hasnt posted a win this month. Meanwhile, Murray has won five of his six starts, and posted a 1.68 GAA. Given the numbers, its only Fleurys years of service to his club that is keeping this a timeshare for the near future. But if both players continue their current trends for stats, Murray will have a stranglehold on the crease sooner than later. For fantasy purposes, Fleury isnt droppable -- even if Murray starts getting 80 percent of the starts. He has too much potential to be a game-changer for fantasy in the right situation.Anaheim Ducks: We may be jumping the gun in calling this a timeshare right now, but John Gibson owners better be wary of what Jonathan Bernier is up to. In seven November starts, Gibson is 3-3-1 with a 2.63 goals-against average and .908 save percentage. Those numbers arent horrible, but theyre not good by any means. After we saw Bernier just twice throughout the entire month of October, his workload has increased quite a bit this month. Through three starts and two relief appearances of Gibson in November, Bernier has a 3-0-0 record with a 1.70 GAA and .936 save percentage. For a coach who had Bernier as his starter for two seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Randy Carlyle wont hesitate to play the hot hand more often. Right now, that hot hand belongs to Bernier. Gibson owners will want to add Bernier if another owner hasnt already beaten them to him.Calgary Flames: With Brian Elliott still bumbling in the crease a full month into the season, it appears coach Glen Gulutzan has finally seen enough for now. Backup Chad Johnson has started four consecutive games, winning three of them, and sports a goals-against average a full goal lower than Elliotts. Thats all well and good, but Johnson has played seven NHL seasons with six different teams, only showing somewhat of a starters workload last season for the injury-riddled Buffalo Sabres. One scenario going forward is that Elliott gets his head right and returns to a respectable form in the crease sometime during the next month. Another is that Johnson holds the reins and continues to be the starter for the Flames. Of those two possibilities, it feels more likely that Elliott, who led the NHL in save percentage last season, finds his form. But neither of those scenarios looks all that likely at this point, with the most likely outcome being the relegation of the Flames to the same category as the Dallas Stars or New York Islanders as untouchable for fantasy goaltending. However, we will quickly point out here that another possibility exists. The Flames signed a 24-year-old Czech goaltender during the offseason, who currently sits second in the AHL with a 1.60 goals-against average and third with a .939 save percentage. David Rittichs numbers are made all the more impressive because his partner in the Stockton Heat crease has ratios of 2.98 and .901 behind the same team, giving the impression that at least some of the major difference has been the raw skill of Rittich. Because of the contracts for Elliott and Johnson, Rittich wont get a chance in the NHL unless there is an injury, but its almost as if he can smell the blood in the water at the NHL level -- hes posted two shutouts in the past 10 days.Forwards rising and fallingTyler Johnson, C, Tampa Bay Lightning (up 86 spots to No. 56): Stamkos missing the upcoming four to six months makes us hearken back to when Johnson truly broke out in the 2013-14 season. Stamkos was out with a broken leg and the team needed a new No. 1 center. Johnson joined Martin St. Louis and Ondrej Palat to help lead the Bolts down the stretch. Even when Johnson had his career-best season in 2014-15, he was playing as the Lightnings No. 1 center while Stamkos slumped. In last seasons playoffs, Johnson stepped up with Alex Killorn and Nikita Kucherov to help lead the Lightning to within a goal of the Stanley Cup finals when Stamkos was out. What we are establishing here is a pattern of exceptional production by Johnson whenever Stamkos is out of the lineup, which will be the case for the bulk of the remainder of this season. Johnson was already back with Killorn and Kucherov on Saturday night, scooring the game-winning, power-play goal. Jurrell Casey Womens Jersey. Patrice Bergeron, C, Boston Bruins (down nine spots to No. 42): Torey Krug eventually broke out of his funk to start the campaign, so we think Bergeron can do the same sooner than later. Just like Krug, Bergeron is doing all the right things without the requisite results. Although his time on ice per game is down a smidgen, its not out of line with his career norms and he is actually on a pace for a career high in shots on goal. As we said, Bergeron should get back to being Bergeron soon, but we cant keep ranking someone with five points this high forever.Alexander Radulov, RW, Montreal Canadiens (up 24 spots to No. 52): Dont make the mistake of selling high on Radulov, as he can keep up this pace. We know he has the talent, as the best hockey player outside the NHL for the past few seasons, but hes not even getting full opportunity with the Canadiens yet. Yes, hes forced his way up the depth chart at even strength to the top line with Alex Galchenyuk, but you may not realize hes not sniffing the first power-play unit yet. Hes eighth on the team in power-play time and playing on the second unit -- if at all some games. Guess where a sniper around the net like Radulov can do even more damage? Even if Radulovs points pace slows down at even strength, hes got room to grow on the man advantage.Patrick Eaves, RW, Dallas Stars (up 68 spots to No. 139): Just about everyone is back for the Stars now. Cody Eakin, Jason Spezza and Patrick Sharp returned to action during the past week, and yet there was Eaves, right where hes always been this season, next to Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin. If the Stars were looking for someone different to play there, they would have done so. Even better, Eaves was still on the power play with those same players, too. We are starting to buy into the idea that Eaves will stick around with these superstar linemates for the long term, but just remember that his fantasy stardom comes from his linemates and a change in that personnel would make him irrelevant in most leagues.Defensemen rising and fallingRoman Josi, D, Nashville Predators (down 10 spots to No. 55): Like Bergeon above, Josi is still doing the right things but not getting results. His shooting percentage, which is usually a clockwork 7.5 percent, is down at 4.0 percent so far this season. Hes taking a similar number of shots, playing a similar number of minutes and even has a similar number of power-play points compared to last season, so one would expect the points return to a similar pace at some point soon. Last season may go down as his career high with 61 points, but theres no reason not to expect a consistent 50 points from Josi. Try to stay patient.Hampus Lindholm, D, Anaheim Ducks (down 15 spots to No. 180): While he finally had a good showing on Sunday, playing more than 22 minutes against the Los Angeles Kings, the fact remains that the Ducks defense has a different look this season. While Lindholm is back with his defense partner Josh Manson, Sami Vatanen and Cam Fowler have formed a power couple in Lindholms absence at the start of the season. That dynamic is going to keep Vatanen and Fowler on the top power-play unit and eat into Lindholms team-leading time on ice from last season. Unless Fowler is dealt at some point sooner than later, Lindholm might be stagnant in his fantasy growth for this season.Goaltenders rising and fallingSergei Bobrovsky, G, Columbus Blue Jackets (up 24 spots to No. 40): This is what happens when Bobrovsky is healthy and focused: Hes one of the games best keepers. His peripheral numbers are exactly in line with his best campaigns in Columbus between 2012 and 2014, as he spots a .934 save percentage at even strength, and a .903 save percentage on the penalty kill. While the productivity of the Blue Jackets offense is surprising this season, Bobrovskys play isnt a huge shock. Hes done this before and sustained it for the better part of two seasons. Im buying.Quick hitsThe Sabres are within weeks of getting their season back on track. Somewhat lost on offense of late, the Sabres are expecting Ryan OReilly to be back in action this week and Jack Eichels timetable for his ankle sprain could have him back at the end of next week (albeit thats on the optimistic side). While Eichel and OReilly remain owned in most leagues, Evander Kane and Sam Reinhart are not. Both players could become fantasy factors depending on how the team finally settles on its lines. We mentioned Anthony Manthas debut for the Detroit Red Wings last week. Now he appears to be playing on the teams top line with Henrik Zetterberg and Gustav Nyquist. He scored his first goal of the season on Sunday. You know what to do.There is still no word on what has Anze Kopitar down and out for the Los Angeles Kings. In the meantime, Jeff Carter will continue to put up increased numbers as the Kings stack the top line in Kopitars absence. The Ottawa Senators are running out of top-line forwards. Mike Hoffman remains out with an undisclosed injury and now Bobby Ryan has a broken finger. For now, Mark Stone is leading the charge with Derick Brassard and Zack Smith. The pressure on this line to produce could help break them all out of a funk.Josh Ho-Sang and Michael Dal Colle are both proving to be exemplary scoring rookies in the AHL with Bridgeport so far this season. We only mention this because the Islanders will be getting increasingly desperate for some offense unless something changes soon, and the youngsters could get a shot.Top 250 rankingsHere are the updated rest-of-season, top 250 rankings of forwards, defensemen and goalies, including position ranks.Note: Sean Allens top 250 players are ranked for their expected performance in ESPN standard leagues from this point on. ESPN standard stats include goals, assists, power-play points, shots on goal, plus/minus, penalty minutes and average time on ice for skaters, and wins, goals-against average and save percentage for goalies. The New York Yankees honored the past this past Saturday, commemorating 20 years since the 1996 World Series championship that ushered in another era of dominance. Luol Deng Jersey .The game might have been billed as a celebration of the past, but all the Yankees greats got a glimpse of the future when Tyler Austin and Aaron Judge homered back-to-back in their first major league at bats. So, what were the Yankees famed Core Four of Derek Jeter, Andy Pettitte, Mariano Rivera and Jorge Posada doing during the home runs? The teams?PR department had the answer. The Core Four forged the backbones of those Yankees teams that won four world titles in five years with that group at the center. The clubs?farm system has had a couple of years of lean production but, on a day during which?the past was on display, it was the future that stole the show. Andrew Wiggins Jersey . Hargreaves began his career in 2008 with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and has played with the Edmonton Eskimos and last season with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Luol Deng Timberwolves Jersey . Despite the cost, effort and an improved steroid test, its possible that very few -- if any -- positives will be detected, Dr. Richard Budgett told The Associated Press in an interview. "We just dont know what the results from Torino will be," Budgett said. http://www.timberwolvesgear.com/authentic-josh-okogie-timberwolves-jersey/ . Burris threw two TD passes, including a key 15-yard fourth-quarter strike to Bakari Grant that effectively countered a Toronto comeback bid and led Hamilton to a 33-19 victory. CINCINNATI -- Cutting down on batting practice is working for Tucker Barnhart.Barnharts first career grand slam capped the Cincinnati Reds five-run first inning, giving Anthony DeSclafani all the support he needed to beat his former team in a 6-3 win over the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night.I havent been hitting in the cage as much as I did early in the season, Barnhart said. I just take batting practice and get loose.Scott Schebler had three hits and Joey Votto a sacrifice fly as the Reds beat the Miami for the first time in five tries this season. With Miami leading 1-0, the Reds loaded the bases with three straight two-out singles in the first against Jose Urena (1-4), who was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans earlier Tuesday.Ivan De Jesus Jr.s walk forced in the tying run. Barnharts seventh home run this season extended his career-high hitting streak to 12 games. That first inning was tough, Urena said. I was trying to keep the ball down, but I couldnt find it. I was hanging too many breaking balls.Urena gave up five runs, seven hits and three walks in six innings. We get our run and get off on a good foot with the two quick outs, but then they score five, Miami manager Don Mattingly said.Coming off his first loss this season, DeSclafani (7-1) appeared to injure his left ankle making a sudden stop while running the bases in the fourth. He allowed two runs and seven hits in six innings with no walks and six strikeouts.I rolled my ankle a little bit, he said. Its swollen and sore right now, but Ive rolled it in games beforee and knew if moved around and kept it loose, I would be OK. Karl-Anthony Towns Jersey. DeSclafani made his major league debut with Miami in 2014 before being traded to the Reds for pitcher Mat Latos.Miamis Christian Yelich hit a solo homer in the eighth off Raisel Iglesias, the first extra-base hit allowed by Iglesias in 23 2/3 innings.Tony Cingrani worked around Ichiro Suzukis leadoff triple and a walk in the ninth to get his 14th save in 19 chances.WERE NO. 1: DeSclafanis balk with Dee Gordon on third base in the third inning was the major league-leading ninth balk committed by the Reds this season.FINALLY: Ichiro Suzukis ninth-inning leadoff triple was his first hit in 11 at-bats at Great American Ball Park, giving him at least one hit in every existing major league stadium.TRAINING ROOMMarlins: An MRI on Monday ruled out any Achilles tendon problems for infielder Justin Bour, according to manager Don Mattingly. Bour hasnt played since July 3 because of a right high ankle sprain.Reds: LF Adam Duvall, CF Billy Hamilton and 2B Brandon Phillips were sidelined with various nagging injuries, manager Bryan Price said.UP NEXTRHP Andrew Cashner (4-9) starts for the Marlins on Wednesday in the third game of the four-game series. He is 0-2 in his last six appearances, one in relief. Reds RHP Homer Bailey (2-1) is scheduled to make his fourth start since coming off the DL, his first in Cincinnati since Aug. 7, 2014. ' ' '
So here we go. Nestor Araujo Mexico Jersey . The Chicago Cubs are going to ...Wait. Get a grip. What am I doing? What am I saying? What am I getting myself into?Yes, its time for that column youve been looking, waiting for all these months. Time for that moment when I (incorrectly) tell you exactly who will (translation: wont) win the World Series. And it would be soooooo easy, soooooo safe, soooooo obvious to pick You Know Who. The best team in baseball. The winningest team in baseball. The team with the legendary 798-year World Series drought. (OK, so its 108 -- whatever.) The team that would rock the planet like no one else if it actually, finally, magically wins the World Series. But sorry, my friends. Cant do it. I made up my mind eight years ago that I am never, ever going to pick the Cubs to win the World Series again. They can thank me later. The Boston Red Sox are going to win the 2016 World Series. Thats my actual (guaranteed to be inaccurate) prediction. But when it came time to write this piece, I felt there were just as many reasons to explain why I WASNT picking the Cubs as why I WAS picking the Red Sox.So why not the Cubs? Ill get to that momentarily. But first, its time to reveal the results of my annual Whos Going to Win the World Series survey of 25 astute baseball executives. And if youre expecting a Cubs landslide here, well, the results are revealing.I asked the group to pick the team that would advance to the World Series from each league and then predict who would win it. In the case of execs from clubs in contention, I asked them just to pick a team in their league they feared most, along with the club they thought would get to the Series from the other league.I conduct this survey every year because A) its fascinating and B) hey, nothing makes me feel better about my own prognostication ineptitude than knowing that the smartest front-office minds in the game are just as awful at this as I am.Over the past two years, do you want to guess how many execs who took part in this exercise guessed the eventual winner of the World Series? That would be exactly ONE. None predicted the Giants in 2014. One picked the Royals last year. So keep that in mind as we unveil the results of this years voting:American League Favorite (or Most-Feared Team) Red Sox 16 Rangers 7 Blue Jays 2*(*Survey conducted while the wild-card race was still raging.)National League Favorite (or Most-Feared Team) Cubs 13 Dodgers 10 Nationals 2World Series Winner Cubs 7 Red Sox 6 Dodgers 4 Rangers 4So did you expect it to be that close? Nope. Me, neither. But I got the distinct vibe that many of these folks felt much like I did -- that picking the best team never makes you look like a genius anyway, so why not go down some other road?Obviously, the pick is the Cubs in the National League, quipped one NL exec. So I like the Dodgers.Too much hype about the Cubs, said another.Out of principle, I wont pick them, said an AL exec.Well, Im not sure precisely what principle is at work here. But you get the idea. So why not the Cubs? Here are four reasons why not:1. Beware of the No. 1 seed: Only two times in the past 25 postseasons has the team with sole possession of the best record in baseball won the World Series (2009 Yankees, 1998 Yankees). And to find the last time a National League team had the best record and won it all, you need to go back (gulp) 30 years -- to the 86 Mets. So theres that.2. The pressure is about to mount: In the postseason, the pressure on both teams to win is usually about 50-50, one exec said. But in this case ... the pressure is on the Cubs every game, because of how well theyve played, because of their record and, most of all, because of the expectations, especially in that city. If they lose one of the first two games at Wrigley, the pressure will be incredible.3. Whats up with Jake? Two different execs went out of their way to discuss the recent issues of Jake Arrieta, a guy whose work over his past 16 starts (4.44 ERA) looks a lot different than the superhuman impression hed been doing over the previous year and a half. Never seen him look so ordinary, one NL exec said after Arrietas last start. I would be concerned if I was them.4. The voice of doom: Finally, the last thing a team saddled with a 108-year title drought needs is MY support. Ive been writing this column before every postseason for more than a decade. Ive picked the Cubs three times -- 2003, 2007 and 2008. If you dont recall their jubilant World Series parades in any of those years, you would be correct. Thats all my fault. My prediction record is so disastrous, Im practically the Cleveland Browns of prognosticators. So why would I want to go and doom the Cubs at a time like this? If the bitter residents of Chicago ever decide to blame someone besides a billy goat, I dont need that someone to be me. I think the Cubs will get to the World Series. But somebody else can pick them to win. Im out.Phew. Glad I got that out of the way. I feel better now. But more importantly, that allows me to move along to the other big theme of this column:Five reasons the Red Sox will win1. What a lineup: The Red Sox have scored an incredible 83 more runs than the next-best offense in the American League (Cleveland). While the Blue Jays had a similar run-scoring gap last season, only one other AL team in the past 80 years has managed to put up a 100-run gap between itself and the pack -- and you need to go back all the way to the 1950 Red Sox to find that one. Their lineup is so deep and so good, said one AL exec. The way they work counts, foul balls off, wear down pitchers, theyre just so good. And they hit good pitching.2. Their strength is greater than any other teams strength: Lets get back to that last line: They hit good pitching. Or to put this in the words of a rival GM: Bostons offense is the singular best strength of all the teams. Now those are words that get my attention this time of year. When we try to break down which clubs profile best to survive the four-week October marathon, isnt that what we look for -- a team so dominant that even the best teams in the sport cant stop it from doing what it does best? And thats the Red Sox. Against pitchers who average a strikeout per inning or better, the Sox lead the major leagues in average, on-base percentage, slugging and OPS. Against pitchers defined as power pitchers, Bostons OPS (.798) is 65 points higher than the next-best team. But the Red Sox are also first in OPS against finesse pitchers (.848). And they went into the weekend as the only team in the past five years with an OPS of .800 or better against both left-handed and right-handed pitching. So good luck finding a matchup that looks like this teams kryptonite.3. Their rotation is better than you think: It would have been easy to theorize a month ago that this team didnt have enough starting pitching to navigate October. But you might want to rethink that. Clay Buchholz and Eduardo Rodriguez have made 11 starts between them since Sept. 1. Theyve allowed two runs or fewer in eight of those starts. Nobody questions whether Rick Porcello is the real deal anymore. (Hes dangerous, super-confident, incredibly intelligent and super-aggressive, said one rival exec. Hes put it all together.) And while you can feel free to question David Prices 5.12 career postseason ERA, Id rather have him pitching Game 1 or 2 than a lot of guys, a longtime NL exec said. Price is 8-0 and 2.37 in his past eight starts against teams other than the Yankees (who wont be participating), for what thats worth.4. Their bullpen is hot: Amazing how the return of Koji Uehara has put the pieces of this bullpen back in place. Since the beginning of September, the Red Sox pen ranks second in the AL in ERA (1.81), and first in opponent average (.198) and strikeout rate (10.4 K/9). The funny thing is, aside from concerns about their left-handed relief, the most questions I heard about anyone in this bullpen were about the closer, Craig Kimbrel, mostly because of his 15 walks in his past 20 innings. (There are days it looks like he just doesnt trust himself, and I dont know why, said one scout.) But if the biggest worry in this bullpen is a man with 83 strikeouts and just 28 hits in 53 innings, that doesnt sound like much of a crisis to me.5. Papi Power: Every once in a while in sports, the script writes itself. So theres just something about the way the stars keep lining up for David Ortizs retirement tour that feels as if there could be one more incredible chapter to come. One NL exec admits that when he picked the Red Sox, thats part of the equation. Theres definitely something magical about it. Well, if there is, you might want to file this away. According to Elias Sports Bureau research, only two position players in the past 60 years (Dal Maxvill and Gene Tenace, back in the 1960s, 70s and 80s) have won four World Series without sneaking onto the Yankees. And nobody has won four for a team that wasnt the Yankees since Jim Gilliam did it for the Dodgers in the 50s and 60s. Well, Big Papi already has three rings. And October looms. So there you have it. Five carefully thought-out reasons why this pick makes sense, backed with the reassuring support of a bunch of really bright people in the game. Now what could possibly go wrong?Outside of the fact that any team in this tournament (including the Cubs) could turn into the 2014 Giants as soon as this fun begins, I can think of only one thing that could get in the way of the Red Soxs fourth ride on the duck boats in the past 12 years:That they just got picked by me to win it all, of course. Which means theyre now officially doomed. Jurgen Damm Mexico Jersey .
